Why don't we have a special teams coach?

Has O given a reason for not hiring a special teams coach? Is dividing up the duties fairly common? Maybe it's just me but I've always thought of special teams as a key ingredient to a championship caliber team.

We had a special teams touchdown and one called back. Also more touchbacks in one game than the entire time Miles was the coach.
What's your problem, now?

Special teams has been far better this year, minus field goals.

When the NCAA approves an additional assistant coach next spring, coach O said he will hire that former Saints coach dude currently working for LSU as a consultant. Until that happens though, we will do without a special teams coach.

Not a fan, esp if McMahon of all people is the ghost coach.

Still somewhat strangely more secure than having BDP down there. Just poured out a bottle of sweet baby ray's for ol baw

Prolly because Coach O is like 98% of people on this board that think kicking is easy and all you need is some soccer player with 10 guys around him

LSU has one in Greg McMahon but he's not allowed to coach on the field. McMahon coached the Saints special teams from 2008-2016.

When's the last time we've had a dedicated special teams coach? I'm pretty sure BDP coached special teams AND linebackers.

We have to fire a coach to hire another at this point.

Which coach do you want to let go?

I don't want to fire a coach to get a special teams coach. I was just asking if O said anything on why we didn't hire one in the offeseaon and if it's common for other teams to do what we are doing with special teams. It's just a question that's all.

We had 3 touchbacks out of 8 kickoffs. You irrational Miles haters are just goofy. Just go back to 2014 and you'll see that LSU have 35 TB in 69 kickoffs. That's over 50%. 2012 was 45 out of 86. I suspect that prior to our current kickers that was closer to the norm.

Not sure about his, I'd like to see a little more consistency in the kicking game, specifically the kickoff and field goal teams. I do think our coverage has improved and I am hopeful the kickoff's and field goals will improve as the year wears on.

There are only a certain amount of coaches you can have. I guess they rather roll without one.

You miles lovers are the retards. The dude is gone, he got fired because he was dumb coach. "Attack their strengths" is the epitome of how dumb of a coach he was.
He is GONE, the haters won, get behind O, or get out of the way. Either way, you aren't entitled to shite.

What we need more than a coach is someone who can kick. This can cost us close games when the competition improves. These guys don't have it.
