Why doesn't the Superdome do a college football kickoff like NRG?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy making a weekend trip to Houston for these games but I am just curious as to why the Superdome doesn't do something similar to this. The years that LSU would play in these games would make it a pretty awesome weekend in New Orleans. Anyone know the reason?

Do you?

These neutral site games suck. Home and home with these opponents would be way better.

I get it is for the money, but damn, we've missed out on some cool home and home opportunities.

Probably better that they don't. LSU wouldn't play in it every year and it would allow 2 teams (probably at least one from the SEC) to gain exposure by playing in the city for recruiting purposes.

I've voluntarily gone there every year of my life.

Never would go to Houston for anything but mandatory work trip.

Ausberry has indicated LSU wants to play a neutral site game in Superdome but my guess is they are going to have a hard time finding a team that wants to come play in basically a LSU home game.

East Texas is fertile recruiting grounds plus a huge alumni base. Think that has a lot to do with it.

They wouldn't fill up all the hotels if LSU played in it. Houston loves us for that very reason. Besides, why play the opener an hour from Tiger Stadium? Not much of a benefit for LSU

One of the reasons may be that the Southern Decadence Festival is in New Orleans on Labor Day weekend, may not be a good mix with the football crowd.

this is such a tired narrative. Do you think Oklahoma is gonna get a recruiting advantage by playing in the dome?

NO.........

Every fricking game for every dame team is on television. That wont push a kid one way or another. thats not how it works.

I'm also tired of hearing about all of the LSU alumni in houston. they can drive east if they want to see the tigers play

I think it's a combination is the things already mentioned, mainly it being Decadence weekend and some are probably worried about putting on a big event in Nola during the prime of hurricane season

Maybe not Oklahoma but Texas A&M, Alabama, TCU, or a UF might.

I remember going to our season opener vs UNC in 2010 in Atlanta and it was not only the ComicCon conference there, but also "Black Gay Pride" weekend.

Made for some interesting pictures.

Considering a decent portion of us have family and friends in NOLA we could crash with, I could see a lot of people preferring it to Houston.

Benson hates all things LSU and would be pressured to include the Tigers by local fans.

He is not a smart man Forest!
