You are missing the point. I'm not comparing the two. But Simmons could easily shoot 30 times a game, kill the flow and hopefully out other players put up points. But when the TEAM scores 38, that's a COACHING problem.
The don't want to play for him, Period

I don't think anyone disagrees. However, Simmons ALSO had an attitude problem

I think the difference in criticism comes from perceived effort. Fournette didn't produce against Alabama, but everyone could see that he was desperately trying to do something everytime he got the ball.
In basketball games where things are falling apart for LSU, you don't see Simmons putting out the same effort. I think people would acknowledge the effort, even if he missed 20 shots and got called for 3 charges, because he'd be TRYING to assert himself.
Today's loss was horrible, and you can't say anything. But too many of those losses, we're within 10 with plenty of time left, and there's the opportunity for someone to go beast-mode and still prevail (or lose fighting like hell). Ben just never did that.

Scotlandville's head coach has been to 7 straight 5A high school title games. I believe he would do better with LSU's talent than what Jones has shown

Because they did not work hard enough, they played the same from game 1 until now. JJ did not make him a better player if anything he played worst. Roasting them is the least we can do, they should both be ashamed of there efforts this year.

you have a good point, but actually, Fournette was criticized pretty sharply when we started losing this past year... the butthurt on this board after a loss knows no bounds...
I remember that, that was freaking insane. Remember the criticisms his freshman year? The guy had no help around him at ALL. It took half the year before the OL came together with the new scheme. Despite having a poor OL, poor QB, poor WR/TE help, he still lead the team in rushing as a true freshman in every game but Wisky, Kentucky, and the 5 carries he had at Arkansas.

Fournette had like 50 yards against Bama. Yet this board didn't blame him. OP has a good point. The Simmons blaming is baseless

THIS. Anybody that watched that game without bias for either team or player would easily see a guy who tried to do everything, but the blocking just let him down. He's not a Barry Sanders type. He can't bounce around the backfield for an hour then come out with a 50 yarder. But with his initial burst, he can hit the hole and get to the other guys before they close in on him.
I really hope he breaks the SEC single game rushing record on those f**ks next year.
