Why does the Rant hate the Chick-Fil-A Bowl so much?

Personally I think it's the third-best bowl out of the SEC tie-ins after the Sugar and Cotton Bowls. Typically it's got a great atmosphere, and the matchup is usually a lot more intriguing than the Big 10 bowl games. I think a lot of people let last year's unfortunate showing unduly color their experience of the game -- LSU didn't want to be there last year specifically because we had a shot at Oklahoma in the Cotton, but that shouldn't be a mark on the game in general, especially given how good an opponent we did end up drawing in Clemson.

Give me a top-flight environment in primetime on New Year's Eve against a typically top 10-15 opponent from the ACC over a dull noon game against a Big 10 team of shaky quality competing with other bowls for TV time on New Year's Day every time.

The whole non-January bowl stigma.

In reality, more people watch that prime time game than they watch all of morning-mid day new years day games.

I have no problem with it. I think it has become the rant's symbol for not living up to (their personal) expectations.

What goes better together than Chick-fil-a, Les Miles, and waffle fries? It's a perfect recipe for LSU football.

Agreed. I felt it was a let down last season, but I generally have no problem with the bowl.

Unless USCe beats Clemson, it looks like Duke will be the ACC representative in the CFA Bowl. I don't know any LSU fan who is excited about that potential match up.

In terms of prestige, it's the fourth best bowl that involves an SEC team if you include the National Championship.

1. NC
2. Sugar
3. Cotton
4. Chick-Fil-A

Not only does Atlanta suck but they're not even cordial to us. Anywhere but there.

I dunno if it'll necessarily be Duke, but the point isn't about the matchup this year; most people seem to be opposed to going on principle which is what I don't get

A combination of the name, LSU going there 3 times under miles, the matchup against an uninteresting ACC opponent, and the feeling of disappointment at not getting a better bowl.

We thought we should get Cotton last year.

2005 we should've gotten CapOne or Cotton or really an at-large BCS although I understand bowl tie-ins didn't allow it.

2008 was th end of a mediocre season.

I like the bowl better than a New Years daytime bowl, but it really needs to be the Peach Bowl again.

The chick fila bowl picks 6th in the SEC bowl order. Are you telling me that finishing 6th in the SEC is exciting to you?
