When did LSU struggle against Washington?

In 2009. We won, but it wasn't pretty. They had more passing yards, more rushing yards and more first downs. We didn't dominate at all.

I have seen NOBODY say this.

This may be some hyperbole but there has been threads stating that if we somehow managed to lose to TCU that this would make the of our program as a national powerhouse. Again, TCU isn't Indiana State. We are 4 point favorites, which is what Vandy was to Ole Miss last night. And that was a fairly even matchup.

I do like your optimism and make good points about Miles' 8-0 opener record. I do think we get the win but I can't help but think what a 27-24 or 28-20 closer game would do to this website. People here are going to go ape shite. I'm just saying that I'm expecting a close to semi-close game.

Preseason rankings, don't mean shite

We are 4 point favorites and trust me- Vegas knows more than you.

Again, doesn't mean shite week 1

-They beat two Top 25 teams last year.

They lost 6 games last year. 3 to unranked teams.

They play in a major BCS conference.

Big 12 is a shell of its former self. And will soon be as relevant as the Big East

quote:

LSU struggled in openers against unranked UNC and Washington in recent years.

But they dominated against Oregan. Doesn't mean shite. Different teams, different players.

Because I'm soooo pumped for this game my super stoked energy will somehow transfer to the players on the field.

Above is what the average fan thinks. I say we win 45-3.

This game will be LSU's coming out party, similar to the VaTech game in 2007. LSU rolls 41-3, maybe 41-10.

b/c they can't see past their P&G noses
hell, we almost lost last year at home to an AU team that won 3 games all season (0 in SEC)
will LSU win? probably. will LSU win big? maybe (I certainly hope so)
but for LSU fans to say that TCU can't win this game is emotional & idiotic, pure & simple

Many of you act like we're playing a directional state school and if we don't win by 30+ then we're doomed to a 7-6 season.

exaggerate much?

You think Vegas is in the business of predicting outcomes?

We out weigh their defensive line with our oline by 35lbs a man.

Dumbest stat thrown out in a lot of games. News flash: Outside of Army, Navy, and Air Force, almost every O-line outweighs every D-Line by about 35lbs.

I agree TCU is a worthy opponent. Just IMHO, I think LSU as a team is playing with attitude this season with something to prove.

Just to be fair, the AU game was on the road.

Les is 8-0 in openers, and that includes some tough games on the road.

LSU hasn't scored under 30 in an opener under Les.

In addition, none of these games have been close except for UNC. Not saying that the past is always indicative of the future, but you can't argue track records.

Absolute ignorance. That's why. TCU is a solid football program and one thing people overlook is they played more freshman than LSU last year. They have potential to be scary good with development. They also suspended their QB who's an excellent QB with a 15-2 record. Coke head or not. They always have a very good defense and Patterson is arguably one of the best coaches in the country, IMO. They're hungry and want to prove to the country they belonged in the national championship all those years the BCS fricked them. This is a statement game for them and would be the biggest win in their program history. They're finally in a BCS conference and that's a new beginning for them. Anyone who thinks they will roll over and die needs to take the blinders off.

Did anyone think Clemson would beat LSU? Granted, it took a miracle performance by their QB to pull something out of his arse and win that game but still. It could happen again...

Do I think we'll lose? No. But I don't think it will be the bashing people on this board seem to be saying. If we play to what we're capable of doing they have no chance but this is a Les Miles team you're talking about here. Lack of discipline and coming out flat happens consistently against teams that have inferior talent.

I don't think it's impossible. First games of the year are always tricky
