Why does Coach O get so much grief about his first head coaching job?

Was he ever found guilty of illegal stuff while at ole miss? I mean hell Bill Bellicheck (spelled wrong) failed at his first couple of coaching jobs. Coach O did a great job as interem head coach at USC but as he said he didn't fit what they were looking for. I honestly believe he has learned alot throughout his recent coaching jobs and has other coaches respect now. We are one offensive coordinator away from being elite again. We know what he brings to the table recruiting and yes even halftime adjustments mean something now. Two more wins and it's a go for O from me.

And therein lies the difference of opinion. I want someone who I know has learned from the past: i.e., someone who has a proven track record with a successful & sustained head coaching stent, especially if there was an initial failure.

I don't just want to "believe". I want to see it before I hand over the keys. Three/fourths of a season as an interim doesn't move it out of the "believe" category.

Honestly there was not a whole lot of talent there at that time.

Maybe so, but they were worse than having bad players.

He is kinda gimmicky too, good for short bursts. But not years.

Do you really want hour years of themed practices? So much Tell the truth Monday a player can take

Are you serious? Have you ever researched his record while there?

Obviously not to alot of people on this board. People on here don't get it LSU is a brand that kids want. They will get top notch talent these high school kids now want stability and a path to the NFL that is all. Coach will bring that just like les did. One exception Coach O gets it Les didn't

Lmao. O's record and performance at his sole permanent head coaching job is "irrelevant" to whether he should be hired as LSU's permanent head coach?

You know this how? The team seems to have responded to Orgeron's different approach.

In truth when he got to Ole Miss he had an empty cupboard and little experience. I don't know if any coach would have been able to do any better with the talent pool Ole Miss had at the time. He was able to start to bring in SEC caliber of talent albeit too little, too late.

He made mistakes (who hasn't in their career)and has acknowledged that. For those of you out there with real jobs, would you like to be judged now on your performance of say a decade ago?

Is he THE guy? I don't know. I do know that he deserves our unqualified support right now. There are two tough but winnable games left.

It is relevant in the sense it is Experience, which successful people benefit from. I believe he has and I believe he is our BEST choice

This . Guy had nothing to work with . his first HC coaching gig and at ole miss. Yeah theres a formula for success. I think Coach o learned alot from Pete carrol at USC. If its not fisher or Herman than give it to O. Give dave A. another million, hire top flight OC with the money your saving by hiring coach O.

So what if we bring in Herman or some young hot shot does he pull a Saban and take off to the NFL ? With O he has a proven track record yeah it may have been bad at Ole miss but how did he do after that. I just think he brings stability to this program much like les did and kid's want that now. We will get talent we aren't Texas A&M or Florida fighting in state schools.

I do not think he is a SOCIETY type AND many commentators have friends and it is a push for their friends.

IMHO if CEO wins 2 more games and Alleva does not give him a 3 year contract, Alleva is committing suicide w his career.
a)there is no guarantee that the next coach will either recruit as CEO, or that he will have the rapport he has w players.
b) LSU players deserve to not have 3 coaches in 3 years.
c) Mid season changes have limitations .... perhaps I would ask CEO to look at a strong Offensive OC, but that would be it.

All this talk and speculation is hurting recruiting.

Sorry, not consistent with the facts. Both O's predecessor (Cutcliffe) and successor (Nutt) at Ole Miss vastly outperformed him. O was the problem.
