Why do you guys think JJ's redshirt is such a big issue?

You have 5 years to play 4.

JJ currently is the 2nd string QB-- he may never be that high on the debt chart again.

Lee is taking his lumps but will improve. Assuming he improves he stays #1 next year. If not Hatch or Sheppard fight it out.

Hatch will heal.

Sheppardson and Garrett are both rated much higher (coming out of HS at least) than JJ was.

Jeffersons time is now, not later. I know this may be difficult to understand but you can redshirt your sophomore or junior year as well as your freshman year.

Is it possible that maybe miles knows a little more about football than most of us?

i just don't know what an extra year of eligibility gets JJ.

his best opportunity to play is now.

and throwing the ball last night when he was in, would have just been stupid.

I understand your thinking but it is not in the best interest for JJ. A year or two from now he will be better prepared to compete. Right now he has no chance. He is still a true freshman that won't see any significant playing time unless Jarrett Lee is carted off the field.

his best opportunity get on the field and play is now, this season.

Nothing wrong with getting JJ prepared to play, but last night did nothing to help prepare him to be our backup. If they didn't get him more playing time last night, when will they? It was a joke.

I hope he didn't waste a year of eligibility for a few handoffs.

yep, his playing time last night was a waste.

But, on second thought...those 4 minutes could have been better than playing 4 minutes of practice against our D.

I don't know what Miles is thinking. Why didn't they allow Jefferson to throw the ball? He is wasting his redshirt on a few handoffs. I guess Miles is just going to let Lee learn on the job and let this season play out. I would like to have seen what JJ could bring to the team. This game was the perfect time to show it. I didn't see the game so I don't know how many of Lee's passes were dropped. The wide receivers better get their act together. They are not helping Lee or this team.

I thought it was a big deal when a player said he plays for the name on his shirt, (LSU) not for himself.

JJ needs to get into the game and run the plays necessary to win a football game. Just the fact that he was in the game gets him ready for the excitement of the big stage. When he is competent to run more plays I'm sure Les and Crowton will unleash him.
Playing one play his freshman year didn't keep Jessie Daniels from reaching his potential. The last time I checked he was still in the NFL.

I'm glad to know he's now ready to play against Bama should Lee go down.

Perhaps there is a bigger picture at work here. Hatch is obviously not the answer for the future. Shephard gives you greater chance to win than any other option currently on the board but even he will have to be developed (think RP) in spite of what he says. I think a commitment was made to that last night by giving up a yr of JJ's eligibility while at the same time commiting to JJ that next yr he will compete for the starting job. This will allow RS to red shirt and prepare to step in more polished and developed when he is ready. I think you should say your good byes and thank yous to Mr. Hatch while he is still around. He did what he could to compete and help, but now is the time to commit to the future and start developing the leaders it will take to get back on the podium.

It's absolutely stupid for a coaching staff to pray for Lee to stay healthy without an experienced backup. Hatch is limited in what he can run. So if or when Lee goes down, you don't want an experienced backup? Look how long it's taking Lee just to be decent, and i doubt he is there yet. So it's better to just go thru the growing pains again?

No sir. Jefferson was rated a 4 star at 5.8 and Garrett is a three star at 5.7. Jefferson was rated the same as Lee.
