I know for the last 5 yrs we have had been around 70-80th in total offense. That tells me that the Defense and special teams are scoring a lot of points or giving us EXTREMELY short fields.
I don't care if we run or pass but we need to have a LOT fewer 3 and outs. The entire nation knows LSU has great defenses and not so good offenses. Some here have a difficult time getting it.

I think the reason people feel that way is the style of backs Les uses in his offense. A small back in a Les Miles offense is 215lbs. The guy likes massive 235lb running backs. I have never seen a smaller faster back really thrive since Les has been at LSU. I really don't care what Les wants to do. I just want to see the offense break the top 50 Nationally. It's a little embarrassing finishing 80 something.

I'm curious to see Bama's Pass/Rush ratio in the last couple of years. They are built the same way like LSU since Saban believes in a rush first mentality.
The only difference being when they do pass they seem efficient - receivers run better routes, better blocking, players execute better, dont miss their assignments, no deer-in the-headlights look after coming out of a timeout etc. When it is a recurring problem over 4-5 years the fingers can only be pointed to coaching and mismanagement.

I don't get it either, Ford might be the best ball carrier LSU ever had, and he hardly ever saw the field. I have to think a run-first coach would have used Ford to wear out defenses.

You're right, he's only the strongest and possibly fastest/quickest player on the team. He would have won Heismans at Bama or OU imo

Who are the best RB's in all of football? AP and Trent Richardson right? Well, Michael Ford is just as strong and fast as both of those guys. The rest can be coached.

There is more to being an elite running back than running strong or fast. He's is nowhere near elite.

I think what he means is he has elite raw talent. In which I agree Ford was the fastest and strongest back on the team. At any other college I believe he could of had the opportunity to flourish, grow, and develop those elite skills to become a great back. With LSU being so ridiculously staaaacked it sadly never happened. Wish and hope he has success at the next level!

They have had bigger "horses" up front...
..and remember Miles came from Michigan.. Bo Schembechler..was Miles teacher
That's what we have....and why we stupidly run "up straight up the middle" in many situations.

For the last 4 years the defense carried us the whole season. If we some how could find a qb & an offense that can move the ball we would be great. Don't expect it this coming year with all the defense jumping to the pro's.An no offense.

actually they haven't. our OL is usually one of the biggest in the country on avg, and might outweigh theirs slightly. at times I even wonder if some of outs guys (read: the tackles) aren't a bit too heavy.

Best example of this was Auburn 2006. We were getting nowhere in the run game, but he would not give it up until the very end when it was too late. We don't play to our opponent's weaknesses. We also, even more inexplicably, give up on what is working.

let's break that down:
what's different from 2008 to now?
russell/flynn vs lee/JJ/mett
what's the difference there?
do you know why our run % was 32 in '11?
because you don't throw the ball when you're up by 3-4 scores.
bama's run pass ration this yr was 63/37. UGA's was a bit was more skewed to pass but close to 60/40.
a 60/40 split is what you want in cfb with a pro style offense. if you don't agree then you differ in philosphy and will never agree but for a fan base that wants everything bama has you think this would be preaching to the choir.
