Why didn't we use the offense that we used against Texas Tech?

That was our best performance of the season, by far. Yes, Tech's defense was garbage, but we played with tempo, used multiple WR sets and our offense thrived. Not only did it get fans back behind Miles, it was a very effective scheme. We won that game comfortably and the offense shined. Clearly, we have the players to run that type of offense and we've seen it in spots before. It makes no sense as to why Les continues to be content with a slow paced offense that either causes you to lose come really close to losing.

Because Tech's D wasn't on the field.

That means you put all but 1-2 receivers inside the tackle box?

It's posts like this that make it apparent how little many of our fans know about football.

This was EXACTLY the same offense. The difference is the production we got out of the running game.

You can't get into your playbook when you only run 18 plays in a half.

Because Les thought - oh good - a Big 10 team - I can play my. kind of offense.

When everyone in North America knows the ball is going wherever the FB is going then you tend to have issues with production out of your running game.

But I agree...You can't get into your playbook when the plays your head coach forces you to run don't succeed.

We did, we just played a team with a competent defense that got us off the field in 3 plays.

Les wanted to thank Wisconsin for giving him Aranda.

LSU added wrinkles, but they were able to just run over Tech at will.

It wasn't a better offense. It was an incompetent defense they played.

i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure we ran twins out of the I-form with the WRs on the short side of the field

with that kind of field spreading, how could we lose?

The two WR's who consistently got open that game are not on the roster.

Tex Tech had 127/128 ranked defense in the NCAA last year.

We could field a team from Tiger Rant and do well vs it.

lol, no it wasn't. We played up tempo, we had more of a spread look, we had multiple plays with receivers running to the middle of the field. We didn't do that Saturday, mate.

I really think Les respects the Big 10 teams too much to beat them. This sounds crazy, but that's just me. How did we do against PSU? We don't need to worry about playing Michigan b/c Les will let them hang half a hundy on us...

Option to the short side of the field 2nd play of the game

This doesn't really get talked about enough when criticizing the offense, IMO. The slow tempo is what disturbs me more than anything. We put no pressure on the opposing defense.

This will sound odd but I can totally imagine a scenario of Miles in coaches' meetings this summer shooting down suggestions that parallel what we did vs. Tech. And getting worked up and salivating at the prospect of playing SMASH MOUTH at Lambeau with his MEN vs. a quality Big 10 opponent.
