Haven’t been listening. Did not know how long the delay was.

I was wondering the same. Can some baseball experts explain why the hour long delay means he can’t pitch?

Because over the course of the season this game means nothing, not with the risk

I’m no doctor, but obviously there is greater chance of injury.

As stupid and uninformed as everyone is about sports on here it’s still surprising how little so many know about baseball

Go do something super athletic and intensive requiring dynamic movement to very sensitive muscles in your arm and shoulder which took you a good 45-90 minutes to get loose for (let’s say pitching). Then cease all activity for 90+ minutes as it relates to that activity. Then, realize you are a top 10 draft prospect in the first third of a season and have another 15–20 appearances to go. … you’ll probably sit down yourself.

Then imagine you are a coach in charge of the above. Easy decision

Go run a mile. Come home immediately sit down for an hour then try to go run another mile. There’s your answer.

Either he threw enough during the break to stay warm, which means his night is done after that long of a break, or he didn’t throw enough to stay warm, which means you’re begging for an injury if you do anything other than put him on ice.

I think they pulled him to expose the really clueless Baseball fans who have never played. Looks like it worked.

Tell me you’ve never played baseball without telling me you’ve never played baseball.

On game day the pitcher warms up with maybe a max of 50 pitches. His arm and shoulder are ready to go. They stay ready to go as long as the intervals Bergen pitching are not too long. He hears up again each inning with a few warm up pitches- if he has to wait too long he has to restart like a new game. This has resulted in arm damage to many pitchers so they don’t risk it.

Arm cooled down. No safe way for him to go back in after an extended rest.

Yep, that’s exactly why.
