So Iin the letter signed by T and W they say their actions to fire coach Wade were NOT an acknowledgement that they agree with the allegations. Interesting. I think if I remember correctly LSU has a few weeks to respond to the allegations.
So why could T and W not wait until the tourney run was done to make their move. All they had to say is we are working through this and will respond later. Lawyers should know how to manage these things like that. Or do they?
Something does not feel right about all this. But Karma has a way of working these things out over the long run.
Would be interesting to see how this would have worked out had the media not wanted Coach Wade’s head on a platter and as many have said and yet not some other coaches.

They didn't want Wade making a run. Firing a sweet 16 coach would look even worse.

Same question goes to the NCAA. If they really cared about the kids wait until the tournament is over then issue the NOA.

At this point it looks like the NCAA was going for maximum publicity and you only hurt the kids that had nothing to do with this situation.

I don’t know why they worded Their letter like that.

But I do know if they were made aware and presented physical evidence of wrongdoing, they kind of don’t have a choice but to do it as soon as they were made aware. Not just a recording like before. There was mountains of evidence and paper trails.

But they said that there action to fire did not mean they agree with the allegations. A bit strange

Yeah that I agree with. Strange wording. I assume it’s because they want to wait until all of this is over and official before officially admitting anything. But now they can say “hey look, when we were made aware, we acted”. Honestly though, I don’t fully understand why they worded it that way.

Cause Wade signed an ammended contract that stated if he is even officially accused LSU could fire him for cause . Blame the timing on the NCAA .

The media gained access to the NOA and everything went public yesterday. They would have had a God awful PR situation on their hands if they didn't act fast.

It’s hard to fire a coach with cause when you’re letting him coach your team in the ncaa tournament a couple weeks after receiving the official Notice of Allegations.

ETA: I’m sure the media leaks also were playing a part in that.

They had 5 days to produce a copy of the NOA under Louisiana’s public document law to whoever requested it. They did not want Wade coaching after the NOA was made available to the public.

I think they should’ve either fired him before the SEC tournament, when they first got the NOA, or let him finish the season. I think the NCAA is going to hammer the fact that we only fired him when we knew the NOA was going to be made available to the public.

The NCAA said fire Wade and make an example of him, and we will let everything else go. Wade was the martyr for the LSU program because Woodward wasn't going against family.

They are not likely to contest most of the allegations. They will try the Kansas defense that the lack of institutional control allegation isn’t valid - or at least not valid the last 3 years.

Since there was a window to respond it seems it would have been less disruptive to wait a week or two until the run is over. That was a possibility. Especially since they said in their signed statement that firing coach Wade does not mean they agree with the allegations.

I like Wade. I was with him when he only made a strong arse offer, but these new allegations are very bad optics. Sometimes perceptions can be more damning than reality. Wade is no martyr. He played stupid games and found out. I appreciate his efforts to build a championship program but you have to be discreet. He wasn't.
