Apparently, he just didn't see anything worth salvaging (in contrast to the football team).

This team has enough talent to be competitive in almost every game with any sort of competent coaching and chemistry. It does.

It just really hurts to see us fall to such depths.

This is him letting Dale, Collis, and the boys lay in their bed. Jones is gone after the official conclusion of the season. He's giving JJ more than enough rope to hang himself

Maybe that's the strategy. I don't know. And obviously, we're too far gone to turn back now.

Because he and the king are morons and will destroy LSU athletics if they're not canned.

He'll hire someone we've never heard of.

New guy will coach next year's team to a 4-14 record. 6-12 the year after. Then 8-8.

We won't play in the NCAAT for another 4 or 5 years, but Joe will tell us about the progress.

It's absolutely the strategy. Firing him before the end of the season would only leave room for the few, but powerful supporters to insert themselves again. Letting it play out, as sad as it is, will eliminate all doubt that he was given a fair chance all the way to the end of the season. Those who lobbied for JJ will effectively be neutered in the next coaching search

Maybe that too is part of Joe's strategy. Let the program bottom out so that there will be zero expectations for success for a few years.

How did we get to such a wretched state?

F. King and Alleva didn't want to get a new BB coach at the end of last season, even though it was abundantly clear the Jones era was nothing more that a giant waste of time, because F. King thought the optics of doing so would look bad knowing they were probably going to have to fire Miles in 2016.

What you are watching this year in basketball is a byproduct of Alleva's frick up at the in the 2015 football season. He is completely useless as an
AD. This worst part though is that LSU has a president who doesn't give a shite that Alleva is horrible

I agree Alleva is allowing Brown, Temple, etc to watch this train wreck of a season. JJ was their guy. A .500 coach from a mid major league has no business getting the gig at LSU. His ability to recruit gave him a chance. LY with Ben Simmons and the year before in the 1st Rd loss to NC State in the NCAAs show talent must be coached. JJ's staff didn't do that well enuff.

Trent Johnson may be the only LSU basketball coach ever hired with better credentials than that.
Press came from a major conference but he was way below .500.

A big thing with the football situation is we had Coach O on staff with head coach and interim coach experience. Plus at 2-2 at the time we still were in the SEC race. Contrast it to the basketball situation and we didn't and now still don't have a chance to do anything as far as postseason. This plus who on the staff could we use as an interim coach? I mean we all want a change made sooner rather than later but doing it now accomplishes nothing but possible to splinter the lockerroom.

Good points. I just don't recall many college basketball coaches being fired midseason like in football too.

He thinks if we finish last we get the #1 overall pick in recruiting.

He thinks he's in Philadelphia. Eventually it's got to work, right?

Why are you still blaming Alleva? King screwed that up. Alleva almost definitely had Fisher. King needs to take all the blame.

He's actually handling the basketball coaching transfer well unlike the football one

There won't be any arguments that JJ shouldn't go when it finally happens

The real question is why did he give up on this whole program by keeping the worst ever ball coach LSU has had by evidence of last year's fiasco. No one with half a brain could believe this was going to be anything other than a dismal year. He intentionally threw away this season and allowed the program to virtually collapse this year. It will make it very tough to attract a decent proven coach. It really baffles me that he allowed this to happen.

. True, but there wouldn't have been any arguments after last season either, except maybe from dale brown and Collins temple.
