Right, like Bama didn't have a little something to do with this train of thought.

I don't see why you would say that. Correct me if I am wrong, but bama changes their logo every year they win a NC. For instance, 2 years ago ESPN would always use the #12 helmet, but this past year it changed to a #13 helmet (13 National Championships). Other than the helmet, what does bama have as a logo the has "with stood the test of time"?

Well, BAMA has used that single "A" for quite some time and it's very recognizable as being BAMA. that being said, they revised their logo around the same time LSU did to sort of make it more easily reproduced and they came up with this.

It's a shite ton better than our tiger.

In case you guys didn't know, this is the design firm responsible for LSU's "new" logo. If you flip through some of what they've done, you'll see that SOME of it's ok, but in my opinion most of it sucks. If you want to assign blame for what we have, it rests solely with whoever at LSU signed off on the crap Phoenix presented to them.

I've always thought we should use the lsu baseball hat staircase lettering across the board (obviously not on the football helmet), but everywhere else. It's classy and says what people know us as...

The LSU baseball logo is traditional and one of my favorites ...

I also enjoy this older logo:

Every time I see it I think of the Atlanta Braves.

I like the traditional.
I also hope to keep the current logo we have on our helmets. The one somebody posted with new logo on helmet is garbage. It's something about tradition....especially our football team. Do what you want with other sports... Just don't mess with our football helmets and stripes on our jerseys.

LSU should just stick with L.S.U. in the Geaux font as its main logo. No one can look at it and be confused as to what it is. It is what UCLA, Oklahoma, TCU and other other schools have done...

Agreed. Good call.

Interesting so many like the Popeye Tiger logo

Yeah, but it's loved in a retro-kitsch kind of a way.

Bama's gotta very classic logo. Simple, recognizable.

Seriously, those people need to put to death. Those are horrid. They look like obnoxious high school or minor league hockey uniforms.

I think its an excellent question.
I assume "by standing the test of time" you mean similar to logos like Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, etc.

Why? Because LSU can't do anything normal like any other school. Guess its just the Louisiana culture...but that said....we do have one that was standing the test of time until someone wanted to get cute in the 80's.....the lettering and the Tiger head currently on the football helmets is as close to a "standing the test of time" logo that LSU has ever had.

And it seems EVERYONE prefers that Tiger over Toonces.

Actually the eye is loved nationally as one of the best midfield symbols.
