Why can our quarterbacks not go through their progressions?

Before I start, I want to say that Jefferson and Lee(especially Lee) have performed much better this year than expected, and that the improvement is obvious. Our quarterback play is light years ahead of last year and that has made a huge difference in the success of this team.

However, both Lee and Jefferson still struggle with working through their progressions. When is the last time you saw one of them work long to short to hit a runningback in the flats? Bama took away our passing game by bracketing Randle and we had no idea how to react. Auburn tried this the week before, but their secondary was so bad they let Randle get behind the double anyway.

So is this a system issue, or a quarterback issue?

WE took the Nation's best shot and beat them. Now we can go back to facing defenses that aren't Bama's and improve.

I also think these guy's are just NOW starting to understand what they need to do to be a good QB.

You are misguided if you think it is common for college QBs to "go through their progressions".

This is not the NFL. In college, it is very typical for a QB to make a pre-snap read, a single post snap read, and then maybe a check down.

We struggled this week because we played a very good defense.

They had more time than you think...Lee rushed both his picks. And I understand that Bama has a great defense. But other teams will double Randle, hopefully Stud and the QB's will adjust. And I think they will

JJ checked down to his underneath WR against Bama. Threw a not so good pass and got RS leveled.

JJ then hit RS on that busted coverage by going through his progressions. Was looking left, saw 3 defenders and looked middle.

Like others have said this isn't the NFL and Bama's defense is complicated. It's not as easy as you think.

Great observation....I just have to think our QB's are not intelligent enough ......just as when JL dropped the snap....he picked it up and threw it without even looking at the coverage......had he just taken a knee, it would have been better......a total lack of maturity

Why?

Bc Lee and Jefferson are flat out awful.
John Brantley had a solid game against that "NFL D" before he got hurt.

Face it, LSU has the worst QBs of any #1 team in recent memory.
