My question is why let him go when the QB spot was up for grabs?

What were they supposed to do? Lock him up in the Football ops building?

They can't keep these guys here if they don't want to.

Also, don't know if the Rutgers comment was a snide remark, but they routinely throw 400 or more times a year.

JJ was also a drop back pro style QB. Go look at his recruiting profile.

For some reason, Miles wanted him to be an option QB when 1) he was not good at it, and 2) it didn't fit our style. We were pretty much a Frankenstein monster with Crowton.

This my friend is the million dollar question. I think Les is just so blown away by athletic ability.

Old habits are hard to break, but Les will make the transition slowly. One spring and fall camp is not enough time to completely overhaul things. Plus, Les does not recruit spread QBs, he recruits mobile QBs who can extend plays with their legs.

Great post. The two most legitimate knocks on Miles are game management and QB development.

Because you are eventually going to have to learn Pro concepts if you want to make it to the next level. If you can't adjust to a new offense you won't make it anywhere.

Believe it or not Cam Cameron is actually a pretty decent QB coach.

Yet some of these kids are coming to LSU with hopes of learning a pro-style system

but we don't run a pro style system. No pro systems use the I as their primary offense and none are primarily ground and pound these days.

Well, that accounts for Mett, the best qB at LSU in years no question...
