I really doubt we would've had to fully match that number to keep him. Money wasn't the issue and I don't see him doing that to Les over a little money. You could see it on Miles face after the bowl game. He was blown away and in disbelief that we couldn't make the deal with Chavis. It looked like he was blindsided for real. Whatever caused him to leave was done by Alleva and was considered irreconcilable by Chavis.

Tell me why Alleva is so "retarded" as you put it and what he has specificly done which makes you so mad? I really would like to hear what your reasons are.

This is discussed throughout the thread...did you jump to that post without reading?

Can someone put together a straight up Pro Con List?

ETA: A list:

PRO:
1. Stadium expansion.
2. Softball coach hire.
-Possible: I'm sure there's a few...

CON:
1. Subservient posture toward the SEC Admin, e.g., bridge games, bowl games, refgate(s), etc.
2. His bull shite about traffic after games, the shite still wasn't fixed this year.
3. Cowers to A&M demands and we now play on Thanksgiving night.
4. Presently, handling of DC hire.

Push:
1. Signing the defensive staff before getting the DC locked in.
2. Trent Johnson being hired, looked good at the time but he was a failure. [But is that on Alleva?]

How did he "not handle it well"? You people are lost.

Alleva went out and got unquestionably one of the top 3 coaches in the country to come here. How is it his fault that the guy flaked out and backed out of the job? Then Alleva recovered and went out and made another great hire and the new coach has the program poised to make CWS runs every year for the near future.

Bash Alleva for other shite if you want, but I have no idea how you can spin that the softball coach situation was his frick-up.

Thats a good argument, I'll add to the list.

Les has received as much hate as he can, so the remainder had to go to someone else.

horseshite. Y'all are just pulling stuff out of your arse now.

LSU fans want to play all their games at night and expect this to be catered to, which is pretty much was last year….but it is not OK for Texas A&M to want to play on Thanksgiving? Hypocritical much….

What do you expect him to do? Burn the office down? He vocalized his disapproval of the schedule but didn't have enough support from other schools to do anything about it. It is kinda hard to fight a fight when it is 1 versus 13. This year, LSU wanted to go to the Music City Bowl and play ND….and that happened. What more do you want?

I'm just compiling. You think A&M should be able to call the shots on playing on Thanksgiving or not? Do they?

It's kinda like complaining about any other high level exec's performance without knowing what options they have at their disposal...I don't know what all he could have done, but it's still messed up. Maybe if he was better at lobbying/negotiating there could have been a more fair result instead of the clearly biased bullshite we got?

I wasn't venting at you…I know you are just compiling.

And if LSU fans can want all night games, A&M fans have the same right to want to play on Thanksgiving.

That was huge but I hate to include it on the list of pro/cons at LSU. Still not sure why they hired him based on that though.

CON:
The Johnny Jones hire, and subsequent raise/extension after winning an NIT game.

Maybe Jones pans out, but his coaching up to this point has been subpar. Hopefully we make the NCAA tournament this year, and with the stars coming in next year we have to at least make the Sweet 16. However, he needs to show that what hopefully will happen next year won't be an aberration.

Con:
Paying $750K to a coach who's program loses money.......while paying the baseball coach (who's program operates at a profit) less..

Seems like to be a clear Con it'd have to be a pretty bad hire on its face. I mean, we can't expect Alleva to predict the future? Jones wasn't exactly the most promising option coming in, but did we have a lot of options? How about "Push: (leaning Con)"?

3. (Leaning Con): Johnny Jones hire, rough start but could improve.
