2003 Baylor advances out of Southern Miss' regional.
2004 Texas A&M advances out of Rice's regional.
2005 Tulane wins Tulane's regional.
2008 UC-Irvine advances out of Nebraska's regional.
2009 Rice wins Rice's regional.
2012 Stony Brook advances out of Miami's regional.
2013 Oklahoma advances out of Virginia Tech's regional.
2014 Texas advances out of Rice's regional.
2015 ULL advances out of Houston's regional.
2016 Coastal Carolina advances out of NC State's regional.
2017 Mississippi State advances out of Southern Miss' regional.
9 out of the last 11 times and the last 6 times LSU's hosted a regional a team other than the host has advanced to the super regionals. So don't be too concerned about who LSU is matched against. Look at the other teams.
Side Stat: LSU is 17-0 in 1st round regional games in this current format which started in 1999.

Now that’s some interesting stuff.

And in 05, we lost our regional.
So 10/11 times both regional hosts did not win.

I could make it to Athens for a potential Super, but I probably shouldn't bother.

How many of those years was the regional host also a top 8 national seed?
Posted on 5/27/19 at 7:03 pm to TigerLaw40
Before this year, just 2004 and 2005. This is the first time under CPM that we've hosted a regional without being a top 8 seed.
Posted on 5/27/19 at 7:10 pm to TigerLaw40
I’d assume a majority of those had LSU as the Top 8 National Seed.

Oh damn, this is a curse. No doubt.
