I like Hess, but I think it will be Gilbert.

I love how we lost in 2014 because Mainieri wouldn't use Poche twice in the regional weekend. But he does that last season so now it's basically set in stone and Mainieri doctrine that this is our regional strategy from now on.

Better chance that it happens that way than doesn't.

He's not throwing Walker on short rest and he's not going to take a potential game away from Poche when he's close to the wins record.

Sounded like Lange may have given up the pitching plan for next weekend in the post game interviews on SECNetwork on the field in Hoover during the post game.

He said he told Walker that three weeks ago he told him that every time he'd be pitching the rest of the season a title would be on the line.

Makes me think they'll chuck Poche against the 4, Lange vs the 2 and then Walker on Sunday. Same in the Supers in an if necessary game 3.

Just conjecture obviously.

So Walker would be pitching Monday when the regionals would be on the line.

What? No.

If LSU goes 3-0, that means they won the regional on Sunday (barring ridiculous amounts of rain.)

I think you go:
Poche
Lange
Walker

Well if what Lange said is true, if a title is on the line then LSU would be 2-1 on Monday with Walker on the mound.

The Poche vs Gilbert on Friday all depends on the 4th seeds ace vs LSU on Friday.

It will be Peterson/Gilbert then Bush in relief with Hess and Newman on the backend

You're overthinking it.

And as for Gilbert, they aren't going to waste one of their best bullpen arms for the rest of the weekend on a 4th seed. The only reason it was done in Hoover was because A) Peterson got suspended) and B) you play more games in the SECT

it was a heck of a calculated gamble...

notice though that in years and years, i've never seen the possibility of a fifth starter brought up for the regional. i guess we'd just roll with whoever's left?

Gilbert or Peterson.

Lange to win the pivotal winners bracket game.

Poche for the championship

Walker for the "if necessary"

Poche was taken out after throwing 60 + pitches, an inning short of a complete game shutout.

To me that meant he was the likely game 1 starter.

Why wouldn't you want to ensure your top 3 guys get a start? I think it's way overthinking starting anyone but them the first game.
