T-Bob should not be playing bottom line. We have many other players that should be playing. Stud has got to go because he is part of the problem. The line has sucked since he started coaching. What did Bobby give LSU to have his son starting? Hitt should have never played for 3 years. Its BS!!!!!!!!!!!!

yet another poster who THINKS he knows anything about offensive line play and/or the inner mechanics of LSU's weekly preparations.

Obviously I'm assuming that any big OL on LSU's roster is not a soft-bodied slow imbecile.

Do you think T-Bob is comparable to Kevin Mawae?

Faulk I feel needs the first look. He has looked awesome the 2 times
I have seen him play. I would trade out Shaw for Josh. These guys can play all over G or T, it's easier to keep the Ts and interchange guards. I also feel center play has been marginal.

I think TBob is pretty good actually, and he saved LSU's arse against Tenn. Maybe he is big enough to play guard at the college level, who knows. Just seems small to me, but what the hell LSU's run game has looked pretty good this year so the OL is doing something right.

you stated the criteria. I provided an extreme rubtle. Kevin made 1st Team All SEC OT as a Sophmore and weighed 255lbs.......

Besides, you'd be surprised how lumbering/slow/weak some of those 300 pounders are.

I guess I would be. I just assumed any big guy at LSU is fairly athletic, although I guess if they were better than Tbob, they would be in there. Upon further reflection, TBob is not the problem with this OL and he is the MVP for Tenn.

he does for a 280lb guy not lifting the earth. I will contend that if you are going to utilize a lighter olineman, they better have strength numbers off the charts. For example, Eric Andolsek would still be excelling in the 2000's at this level because he was a raging beast and was one of the strongest players in the country.

I'm sure Tbob is strong, esp for a guy with a rebuilt knee. It was shocking to me how Fairley was able to beat the double team, but I dont think it wouldve mattered if Tbob weighted another 20 lbs.

Alan Faneca would've had issues with Fairley.....dude is just that disruptive.

Charles - I have the utmost respect for your opinions but I don't think Alan would have had issues with Fairley. Faneca wasn't just a good or even great OL, he is one of the all-time NFL best OG's.

Also recall he left LSU early and was still a 1st rd pick (26th overall) - kind of rare for guards.

Anyway, thanks for all the insightful post on line play. Very appreciated.

Probably Hurst. I don't understand why Greg Shaw is even still here. He doesn't even get backup snaps. Faulk probably out to be at RT right now preparing to move to LT. I wish I knew how 68 and 53 are te 2 best guards we have when neither weighed 270 when they got here.

I still believe T Bob should have stayed at fullback in 2008. He's be around 260 and serve a purpose. If the staff thinks they could coach him into a G, surely they could do it with any of the other lineman they have.

Dude, that was like 15+ years ago! I think the average size/strength of the O line has increased since then. And the D line guys that they are blocking as well.

Correct, but I think his point was that Kevin was small by OL standards (at 255 lbs) even 15 yrs ago.

I don't know about "should" ... but it's usually a DE or DT ...

Just have a hard time believing our smallest OL actually deserves to start at guard. I could understand possibly center, but it blows my mind he is supposedly one of our top two guards.

True. The week after the surgery the plan was looking like he might be back for the Alabama game if everything went perfectly, but I haven't talked to him in a few weeks so I am not really sure about that anymore.
