You better be pretty damn good though. Your average college catcher couldn’t get a job as an MLB bullpen catcher.

There are so many things, nuances about MLB that are either weird or mind boggling or both. And it’s freakin immense.

Like this:

The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs, known simply as the National League (NL), is the older of two leagues constituting Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada, and the world's oldest extant professional team sports league. Founded on February 2, 1876

Bizarre factoid.

It took the National League ~49 years to finally adopt a designated hitter rule, which the AL implemented in 1973.

No, it’s actually not him. :)

Weird flex saying you sit front row in the bullpen I’m front row behind the plate since ‘85

Fortunately my seats near the bullpen (since the 1990's) provide a better view of the bullpen catcher than seats behind home plate where fans can only see the back of the catcher.

Ryan Lovato and fellow student equipment manager Paul Loup handle most of the in game bullpen catching duties. Lovato is the shorter of the two so I assume the OP was asking about him.

There are pictures of him in these links below, some with his LSU cage top and catching gear on taken in RF near the home bullpen. You can also find both of them pictured and listed in the gameday programs on the baseball staff page.
