Both are great choices. What differentiates Casanova was him making AA all those years and Mathieu being booted off the team and costing us a legitimate chance at a Natty.

Matheui for me. My dad stands by Casanova being the smoothest runner and athlete he has ever seen.

I saw Cannon and he was awesome
Loved Mathieu.
But Casanova or Peterson could play both ways and return kicks and punts for TDs at any time.
Those two...

Gotta give Kevin Faulk some love, along with Dalton Hilliard Josh Reed, and OBJ.

Y A Tittle is at least in this discussion. And Steve Van Buren. Difficult to compare them to the athletes of today, but they were great for their time.

A worthy top "7" indeed.
Kevin Faulk and Dalton Hilliard were the best 1 against 1 running backs EVER! That's good enough for me. Faulk's 4th qtr comeback game against H-town in Tiger stadium has to rank up there w greatest games of all time by an LSU tiger.
All time to me = 4 years. Fournette is so good that he could be "all time" greatest running back in LSU history in only 3 years. That's phenomenal! We'll see....

Les wasted that dude. I remember he had like a 5 yard per carry avg against UGA in 2009, playing in pistol formation IIRC. Then he didn't see the field in the second half. Wtf Les!? We won, I'm over it. Or am I? I am.

I wasn't alive at the time obviously... But just looking at his size is amazing. He wasn't that much smaller than a typical lineman of the day and could run like a gazelle. An absolute freak for his day.

TM7 is the best player I've seen, but I'm not sure if he's the most "talented." His instincts and football IQ are both insane, off-the-charts, ridiculous, whatever, but does the classify as talent? I don't know, I think that TM7's intangibles are what separates him from the crowd, and I think of talent as more tangible. Not to say he isn't a great athlete because he absolutely is, just saying the term talented is likely relative.

Fournette, Peterson, La'el Collins, Brockers, Mathieu, Jamarcus, and Marquise Hill are some guys that immediately come to mind from the 2000s

absolutely, both NFL Hall of Famers...

if Jim Brown got excited about meeting Steve Van Buren, you can only imagine how good he was...

I really think you have to break this down by era...

1940's - YA and Van Buren
1950's - Cannon
1960-70s - Casanova and Bert Jones
1980s forward - Kevin Faulk, Peterson, TM7
