The 90's is a period of 10 years starting at 1990. It all depends on how you look at it.. If you count decades as started at 01 AD then 2000 was not in this current decade.. But if you say the 00's or 90's you are identifying a 10 year period in itself which is also a decade by definition. Most LSU fans counted the 2000 in the last decade to be the team of the decade too. You cant count one twice.

Sorry, but doesn't it look like Coleman is doing the White Crane Karate Kid move here in this pic?

Horrible reference there... Wiki..

A decade is defined as 10 years.. If you count from when AD started (THERE WAS NO YEAR ZERO) then 2000 was apart of the last decade. However if you say I want to just take a period of 10 years like the 90's or 00's then you include 2000 in this decade.

lsu fans counted 2000 as part of the 90's decade because they were already known as the "team of the decade" after the 97 season, and 2000 the 5th title in a 10 year time span. it just sounded cooler to say lsu won 5 in one decade rather than 4 in one and one in another. fact is, 2000 is not part of the same decade as the 90's. gtfo with all this year one crap. it's just not, whether you want it to be or not. i can't believe some of the things on here people actually believe. amazing.

a "decade" can be any 10 year period you want it to be.

referring to the "80's" is clearly referring to the period 1980-1989.

referring to the "new millenium" is clearly, logically referring to the year 2001 and beyond... NOT the year 2000. That was still a part of the last millenium.

we good?

Hey dumb arse do you even know what a decade is?? We DID win 5 championships in a decade..

A decade is NOT I repeat NOT defined as 10 years having to start at 00.. A decade is 10 years starting at ANY date. LSU won its first NC in 1991 and won one in 2000

1991
1992
1993
1994
1995
1996
1997
1998
1999
2000

= 10 years! Thus a decade..

Its all how you define it. But a decade is any period of 10 years. If you say the 50's for instance its a period of 10 years starting at 1950.. But it is valid to say that LSU won 5 NC's in a decade.

I did notice this one little tid bit. During the world series, they would occasionally pann over and show plaques,on the outside walls of Rosenblatt stadium, of past national champs. They had them broke down by the decades. The 90's decade began with Georgia in 1990. The 2000's began with LSU.

we pretty much have the bookends on the decade, but overall, Texas has a better claim based on performance in the middle years

Thats exactly what Im trying to explain to the rantards. It depends on how you define it.. And the majority of LSU fans counted it to the last decade not this one.

ok
1980-1989 is the 80's
1991-1999 is the 90's
2000-2009 is the 00's
year 1-2000 is one millennium
2001- is the next millennium
so what you're saying is that the year 2000 is in the same decade as the year 2001 but a different millennium? ok, now that makes perfect sense
