Who starts probably won't matter all that much.

Unless there is some unexpected separation between the two in fall drills, I think we'll be using both almost interchangeably, at least early on in the season.

JFF is off that week and the game is on national TV. Look for him to suit up for a photobomb...

If that don't happen. Jennings.

If Harris hadn't gone thru spring drills, I could see where you're coming from.

But since he indeed did do that, your rebuttal is rather ignorant itself.

You obviously feel, in error imo, that having a extra year in 'the program' means a lot regarding any possible separation between the two.

I guess we'll see.

Jennings.

And I am on the Harris train... but he wont be starting the 1st game of the season... when was the last time a true freshman started the 1st game of the year?? I cant remember.

One of my favorite things about Les Miles evolving over the years is he's seemed to drop that propensity to start more veteran, yet less talented, players simply because of seniority.

I'm sure Cam Cameron will decide this with LM going along. But to simply name a starter based only on having one more year in the program seems rather ridiculous imo.

For a lot of positions, yes I tend to agree with that. But not for the QB spot. Jennings has played in some big moments for us and even won us a game with a late minute drive.

You cant teach a freshman that kind of experience. You can try and simulate it the best you can in spring practice and all that... but you cant match the game experience.

And the QB spot is the toughest 1 to simulate that game experience for. Sure I know Winston and Manziel won the Heisman as 1st time starters... but they were also 2nd year players. Harris is a true freshman. Hes never been a part of a game or on the sideline. That still helps a player gain some type of experience. He can use that time to help him with the checks, playbook, reads, etc.

And again... when has LSU ever had a true freshman start the 1st game of the year?? Regardless of who the coach is... Most true freshman QBs dont start the 1st game of the season for ANY programs.

An extra year on campus goes a long way. I can see where you are coming from but Jennings has been in important situations and has produced results. I'm not saying he killed it in the bowl game but he did get us the W and he even saved us from an L against Arkansas. Even though Harris has been with the team through spring practice, the best competition he has faced thus far was in the all American game.

Having said all that I do believe that Harris is a special talent I just don't think he will be ready for game one. Could totally see him taking over at some point later in the season though

something happened to jennings in that iowa game it felt like. he lost his confidence he seemed to exude in the arkansas game. his awareness of pressure was non existent in the spring game and his arm appeared very weak, one pick resulting in a pick six, and the other pick thrown right to the safety, resulting in another pick.

can he improve? of course he can.

going to say that the 1st string LSU defense is probably a little better than the all american game players.

Cam has said Harris has won the job. He stated this at public
Events. He did give an interview . Also, the players are saying Harris separated himself and won the starting job in the spring.

IMHO Harris is a special player. However, in my opinion Jennings has not come near his peak he will improve and I believe see significant playing time .

After all that's been said I would be shocked if Jennings starts but With Les u never know?

I'm not criticizing coach Miles just sayin he's not predictable

I think Harris will start I've watched the spring game about 6 times, when Harris was with the 1st team he made more plays with his arm an feet he was inches off on most his deep throws he made. Jennings made some plays with the 1st team too, but then he would get sack or the drive would stall. Harris just seems to have more swag ,confidence, leadership I don't know what it is the it factor. Jennings does have talent, but I just think Harris has more he's the QB that's going to take us to the championships we all want! Mr Harris

I'm not sure being the "starter" will matter much this year at QB.
