Slaughter made 2 or 3 excellent plays at first. I hope he stays there forever. Love having someone who isn't a liability and just a bat.

Slaughter has more room to fill out and become a real power threat at the college level but both will have outstanding careers.

Not to be a dick but does it matter? Why can't you just enjoy both? They are both going to be great. Why does everything have to be compared?

dude. This thread is basically complementing both players. No need to freak out...

I agree. But I don't think it's too far fetched to think a smith can have real power for us as well... which is where the Mike Fontenot comparison came in. Smaller guy but insanely fast hands.

I was thinking similar to Morris, but it is probably just the stature and number

A little OT but won't both guys be draft eligible sophomores?

Slaughter probably has the higher ceiling, really impressed with how he looked at 1B for never playing the position.
Smith will be here 3 years.

Smith. His glove and smooth lefty swing are fantastic. Both are excellent players though, and we are lucky they are in school and not in pro ball!

C'mon, you really think the Catholic boy isn't going to get the nod on this board?

No, not at all. Slaughter is faster.

I went to catholic but had the pleasure of living in Monroe. Saw slaughter play and was druling over him. I prefer him right now.

However, they are very different players so I think to compare their ceilings is pointless.

Love Smith, but think Slaughter has higher ceiling due to body type/power. BTW, I love having a quick fielder and great glove on first base. He will rob a few opponents of base hits this year.
