I say it’s gotta be Hess.
Odds are stacked against us in the second game if we win. The molester is 14-1 and he’s playing in his home park with something to prove against LSU

The key game will be the 2nd against Oregon State. Sanders should get the ball there imo.

1) Hilliard
2) Hess

Hilliard certainly capable of handling San Diego St IMO.

I would keep sanders coming out of the pen. He seems comfortable there. Him and Peterson seem better in that situation.

I might go Hilliard then Hess

Not sure they would change it up now, but I would hope for the dominant Hess we just saw to face game 2.

I like because giving Oregon State a look at that curve ball a couple of times through the order and then switching to the gas-throwing relievers (Sanders, Fontenot, Peterson) might be the best way to match up.

If Sanders doesn’t throw in the first two games then I think he gets the start in game 3.

If it's who I'm starting:

Game 1) Nick Bush - Devin Fontenot - Todd Peterson to close

Game 2) Zack Hess - Caleb Gilbert - TP to close if needed

Game 3) Ma'Khail Hilliard - Cam Sanders - TP if needed

Who I think he'll start:

1) Hilliard - due to most rest
2) Hess - Obvious reasons
3) Sanders - He's been hot lately

I Think Bush actually does better starting and Sanders & Gilbert does better out of pen. That's why I thrown Bush in game 1 on a short leash. Plus I think it gives him confidence moving forward.

+1

what's the AJ Labas status? Is he out?

Your ideal rotation would be Start Cam Sanders and hope he can go 4-5 innings. Then go to the relievers and hope they hold up.

Win and you can save Hess and Hilliard for the Beavers in game 2 and 3, you are in good shape.

Hess game 1, then Hilliard. Throwing a primarily fastball pitcher against Oregon state isnt going to get you anywhere you want to go. They are way to good of a lineup to throw a two pitch guy at. They’ll sit dead red and they are incredibly disciplined. Their best player, Madrigal, has struck out 5 times all year. They have a catcher hitting .390...You can’t beat them with a dude that throws 94 with a slider.

It’s got to be Hess or Hilliard. There’s no way you can Johnny wholestaff this first game.

I’d go Hilliard Friday then Hess. If Hess is on that’s our best shot against OSU

I would go Hilliard game 1.
Hess game 2.

After that, you piece it together anyway you can.

This....all of it. Nailed it.

Hilliard and then Sanders in game 2 is probably our best shot.

San Diego has a team batting average of 314 or something like that I read.

Better go with the best pitcher available.

I think I would rather be the 4 seed and open with the Beavers. That way we would have our entire staff to go after them.
