I know it's hard to compare between different years/QBs and two have yet to start their NFL careers. But with BTJs blazing 40 I thought "dang... and he was our WR2!". Weve had a great run of WR duos, so if you had to pick one pair in their college prime to join the team next season, who would you pick? Combined stats included

1. Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry (2013)
136 rec 2,345 yards 17.2 ypc 18TDs (note: didn't have a Heisman winning QB and Cam Cameron was the OC)

2. Justin Jefferson and Jamarr Chase (2019)
195 rec 3,320 yards 17.0 ypc 38TDs

3. Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. (2023)
159 rec 2,746 yards 17.2 ypc 31TDs

So who you got?

Jefferson and Chase.

I don’t want to say it isn’t close because that’s a lot of talent but….

Jarvis and Odell would have been disgusting with either Burrow or Danial’s. I tend to forget how dynamic they were in a run happy offense. Can’t go wrong with any of the duo’s. They’re all exceptional.

For now, I'm sticking with Chase-Jefferson because I felt like they both popped off the screen in a way I'd never quite seen before.

But statistically I think Nabers-Thomas did more with the less opportunities they had! So a very close second for me.

Though I also really would have loved to see Landry and Odell with a QB like Burrow, just imagine

It’s crazy that those might be the two best catches that any one of those 6 WR’s listed had in college.

Jefferson and Chase. I still can’t believe we had these dudes with Joe Burrow

Chase and JJ. They are easily in the conversation for top 5 WRs right now in the NFL.

Tough to say without seeing all of them in the same offense with the same QB.

All 6 are LSU HOF. I’d like to see Reed with Burrow or Daniels with either O coordinator. Not sure if people remember how wide open Reed could get. His route running was elite.

Now consider that Joe Burrow threw exactly 200 more passes in 2019 than Jayden Daniels did in 2023.

True that. Imagine how many more yards those two would have had with Joe or JD. Both made some phenomenal catches. All 3 groups were outstanding.

Chase had a crazy one against Texas that wasn't really talked about much, but I remember watching him making that catch during that game and thinking to myself, "he's unbelievable."

Chase high pointing the ball vs Texas

I do NOT want to have to pick between these pairs, but if I HAVE to pick, those Jarvis Landry SuperMan catches seal the deal for me... Juice was the best I have ever seen.

Now consider Terrace Marshall was on that team as well and 2019 was almost never behind in the 4th quarter slinging it

Let’s not forget we also had Dwayne Bowe, Early Doucet and Craig Davis at the same time too.

What could they have done with a modern offense?

Yet Joe threw it 200 more times than Jayden.

Yep. Between him and Moss they had 23 receptions more than Taylor and Lacy. The top 4 guys in 2019 caught 288 passes. Those top 4 guys in 2023 accounted for 78% of LSU's 223 receptions. If Jayden throws it 200 more times and completes 72.2% that's another 145 receptions. Assuming Nabers, BTJ, Taylor and Lacy account for 78% of those receptions, that's another 113 catches for 336 total - 48 more than the top 4 of 2023.
