May be wrong but I believe he was the last college player to jump from college straight to the majors

And pitching wasn't watered down or in need like today.

What? Do you know how many pitchers throw 95 today?

he didnt jump straight to majors. made 2 starts in the minors

Jim Abbott did it that year, however.

Mike Leake has done it most recently. He pitched in the CWS the last time LSU won it in 2009

and what's your point?there are more teams and only the best make it. Only the best throw the number of innings as Ben was throwing. While a lot throw in the mid 90's today, how many are relief pitchers or set up guys? Because of how watered down pitching is today look at the $$ they make for mediocrity. Dominant pitching is few and far between these days.

Absolutely right in all your comments.

Nola has the same problem today that he had when we were 14/15 years old. The kid stays around the zone way too much. He has gotten better at this as he's matured in the pros. But there are still some starts I watch where he just throws too many strikes.

If you repeatedly pound the zone in the pros without throwing any chase pitches/ stuff in the dirt the hitters will key in on you. Hitters who have had routine success against him are routinely aggressive, especially early in the count.
