So many guys performed well beyond expectations but CEH stood out for me. Didn’t expect him to be as effective as he did. His physicality and catching stood out most.

Edited to add: Besides Burrow

Maurice Hampton and Cordale Flott. Both stepped up and played like seasoned veterans as freshman. I expect both of them to turn heads next season.

Hampton’s a good one. Looked ready to play moment he got his chance.

Patrick Queen on defense and Thaddeus Moss on offense plus Lloyd Cushenberry elevating his stock from probable free agent to second day pick.

Queen on defense.
Offensively anyone that doesn’t say Joey burreaux is crazy. But excluding him, CEH had one of the best seasons any LSU back has ever had

Positive surprises

Clyde on O. I thought that the young guys would push him harder and end up cutting into his carries, glad to be wrong.

Queen on D.

Negative surprises

Emery looked lost, Sullivan and Dillon disappeared in the offense

Delpit regressed

Honestly Moss. Dude didn’t drop a pass all season. That’s unbelievable.

I’d say the guy who had the greatest season ever for a college quarterback in the history of the sport.

Burrow should be the only answer here.

We thought he might be pretty good but anyone who says they were expecting THAT is a liar.

Clyde. Thought he was serviceable at best. Turned out to be the most reliable and versatile back in the SEC.

Everybody in my family said the same thing. I never understood it. The break away speed narrative took over the fan base and that set expectations low. Football is played 0-15 yards at a time. Breakaway speed is only useful a few times a year. His patience, lateral speed and how he hit the hole always caught my eye. I knew he had it in him to be great.

Having watched Clyde since he was a freshman in high school, I was not surprised in the least. He has always had talent and heart.

I thought Shelvin had a very great but not overly talked about season. Big reason why many teams couldn’t run up the middle well.

I think nobody expected CEH to be as strong and physical as he turned out. Dude was hard to tackle especially 1:1.
