I know. I'm just trying to cheer things up.

It is rare for a high school coach to beat a Saban, but, it has happened and it can happen.

Saban is 60 or 61 years old now.

I don't see a guy who carries this much fire and intensity doing it much longer at the level he expects of himself year in and year out.

His days are numbered. He may retire from the game but won't be Alabamas coach in 5 seasons.

TIME is on LSU's side.

The hungry Tiger patiently waits, stalks, and waits some more . . . day after day, month after month, year after year . . . he never stops his quest . . . he never stops hunting his prey.

Doesn't matter. At that point Alabama will just plug another coach in to the Alabama powerhouse much like lsu did.

And I don't even want to think who that might be.

College football in general is wearing on me. As long as the sec, slive is in t-town and emmerett is the head of the NCAA, bama will have its way.

Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame should have their own conference. That way they can be special all by themselves.

It's never going to be good enough for some of you. If Miles were to beat Saban bad, like the score in the Arkansas or UGA games last season (just the score), some of you would still be saying, "Well, he could've gone for a FG. There was enough time to run another play. We could've gotten downfield..... blah blah blah."

What fun lives some of you "fans" must lead.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean.

Familiar is things breaking just right for your team to make the big game - and we all get that. Not taking away from their performance therein. But you have to at least acknowledge the frustration that comes with the ultimate meaninglessness of beating your team in T-town. As a fan base we're still a bit sensitive about it.

And you drop this gem into an introspective thread.

Yeah - y'all are Bama - we get it.

The great thing about being a fan is that we can always believe that if they had done it another way we would have had better results. In real life it doesn't always work that way. I wish JL had got a shot but that doesn't mean it would have worked . Lots of time I would have pulled JJ but Les stuck with him and it worked out. The Coach is payed to do what he thinks is best and they have to deal with the results.

Lacour is right. We can keep up with them but Nick is going to keep the pressure on.

You dominate a program one game at a time. In 10 years to win 70% of the games maybe by a point or two but win 7 out of 10 The ten years down the line one game doesn't mean as much. Tulane beat us one year 48 to 7, but we had two straight runs of 25 wins. Never say can't. Winning 7 out of the next 10 can be done and both of these coaches will have been replaced. Alabama was just another SEC team a few years ago. Florida is on hard times now. Nobody dominates forever.

The spring game needs to be bumped up by about a month.

Outside the first class Sunshine Pumping by all the cheerleaders on here, it's pretty much overwhelmingly the opinion of high school/ college players and coaches who the vastly superior technical and game day coach is. Aint even close to anybody except those delusional ones in P + G fantasy land.

So what?? They may be right. He can only sign 25 and keep 85 scholarships on the roster.

They were lucky to get the mulligan. Outside of the pollsters, the vast majority of college football fans were/are frustrated about it. I still hear from my friends (fans of other teams) that are fed up with college football - and for good reason.

The ire about this game far exceeds when 2 loss LSU got in and won.

"Never Again", along with the score, 28-27, was Bama's motivational 'theme' after the '10 Iron Bowl.

LSU has to prove it can beat Bama twice in a year now. As a fan, you better learn to deal with this or you will be a miserable person.

This regardless of how bad we beat bama in a year, the talkin heads if LSU/Alabama finish with the same record will always fall back on this point.

LSU will never get the benefit of the doubt with BCSNC voters. Never will voters put LSU in the big game by virtue of any reputation points. Jan 9th has hurt LSU's rep with the press. LSU shite the bed and the voters/media will never forget that.

This is correct. Jan 9th was the moment the media waited for all of 2011. LSU finally lost. LSU was supposed to lose two in September. LSU was supposed to lose to Florida, then Auburn.

Then, LSU was surely going to lose Bama in the most irrelevant game of the century.

Then LSU was going to lose to a much improved, now healthy Arkansas team.

Then LSU was going to lose to UGA in UGA for the SECCG. Afterall, if they lost this one, they may not have the "right to rematch Bama".

Then, finally, LSU lost. The media rejoiced.

quote:

LSU would have gotten another shot at Bama, even if LSU lost a close one in Tuscaloosa on Nov 5th, 2011. LSU had built up enough rep to get a re match with Bama on Jan 9th. That reputation and goodwill are now erased. Gone.

Here is where you are mistaken. LSU is NOT a tier 1 entitled/media darling. Despite our recent success, we still have not garnered this status, and will never garner this status. A Baton Rouge market would not bring ESPN the ratings they want. I bet if you polled ESPN higher ups today, they would blame LSU for the poor ratings the BCSNG got this year. Not the fact that America didn't want to see a team get a mulligan in a system whose motto is "Every Game Counts".

quote:

LSU will have to WIN it's way into the BCSNC game, and, yes, even if we beat Bama again in the regular season, the voters will again give a one-loss Bama a re-match with us.

Reality sets in!

quote:

This will be the legacy of Jan 9th. The road just got a lot harder to travel, because the new media template on LSU is that we shite the bed when it really counts.

Bingo.

quote:

None of this has anything to do with LSU fans. What we think or what we write on a message board is not going to sway BCS voters and sports journalists. As such, we fans can "move on" and "put it behind us" as much as we please, but, we won't affect the psyche of BCS voters and sports journalists one iota. Some LSU fans have a very exaggerated notion of what words on a message board can accomplish. The man in charge of LSU football is in control. Whether we endure or fail is up to him, not the fans.

This is partially correct. BCS voters don't care about our program. Period. ESPN execs don't care. Period. ESPN would have Bama vs USC every year in the BCSNC if they could. These are outside forces.

The constant negativity will hurt a program from within.

I hope we don't ever use slogans like 'never again'. This ain't holocaust survival. It's just coach dumbo not having his team ready to play a pissed off bunch of gumps in a rematch.

I doubt very much that any of us will see total domination of 1 team or school, over another. The scholarship limit of 85 put that to an end years ago and the current SEC limit of 25 signees per season is going to further solidify that. Not to mention the fact that kids are getting bigger, faster and stronger every year and since one dominant team can't sign them all, they go to other programs. The NCAA is legislating "parity" and that is going to become more and more evident as future years come and go unless it gets blown up down the road, as it probably should. Until that were to happen, get used to 50-50 on the W/L split between high profile schools, IMHO of course :)

Yes, because every SEC team follows this rule.
