We can lose every remaining game and I still don't think that we abandon Les (of course, this won't happen, but I'm just sayin)

Ugly wins, but I'll take them over a loss any day!!

I will too. Just win baby.

But I think this thread pertains to a purely hypothetical situation. And it's evidence by the OP saying he doesn't advocate Miles being fired right now and that he's behind the team.

you can't be serious. have you been under a rock since '05?

there is a group of "fans" that have never, and will never be in support of Les...regardless of what his team does/doesn't do on the field.

As long as CLM:

1. Brings in top 5 recruiting classes each year
2. Graduates his players
3. Represents LSU in a classy way

...he's not going anywhere. CLM may bring in other assistants but he will remain @ LSU as long as the above remains intact.

If they lose 5 games, he should be on the hot seat

Oh come on. I guess some folks don't like winning. Are we forgetting that even under Nick Saban we went from 10-3 winning the SEC title to 8-5 the next season? We will be fine.

Nick Saban had top recruiting classes and lost multiple games every year except once.

He lost to UAB.
He got blown out occassionally.
He would lose to inferior teams on last second plays.
He would be criticized for handcuffing his genius offensive coordinator.

My point is, we've had an awesome run this decade. We're 4-0, ranked #4, and have a chance to make a statement this weekend.

Les is our coach. He spurned his alma mater to stay here. We worried every year that Saban would leave.

Do I wish this team would be blowing people out? Yes. Do I wish we had more jumping around and screaming on the sidelines? Maybe.

But honestly, this is about what I expected so far considering our personel on the lines of scrimmage.

We have a very good coach who has won a national championship and has us contending to play in the SEC Championship game year in year out. Damint, this is the SEC. That's all you can ask for!

This is a HUGE 'depends' on so many factors.

Off the cuff, important coaching items to me:

1) Solid recruiting, especially in Louisiana
2) Competitive in SEC games on a very consistent basis
3) Limited amount of discipline problems
4) Respect for tradition

Check on all of the above for CLM.

What would change my mind on the field is a pattern of games like Ole Miss and Troy last year.

In recruiting, it would be losing the better in-state recruits with some regularity. An occasional Joe McKnight is not a problem - hell, a coach can't force players to stay home even with a championship program.

I think you get the picture.

Would I be happy being 4-4 every season, but only losing by a touchdown or less? No, that would get old, especially if we're continually getting top notch recruits.

After this next run of three games, I think things will come into much more focus about the character of this team and Les Miles.

Personally, I'm concerned but optimistic. In fact, I think I'm starting to get delusional about our chances this weekend.

It was in reference to the OP of this thread. I didn't literally mean everyone that has ever watched LSU wants LM to stay forever. I guess I should've used OP instead of no one.

That season was a prime example of what happens when you get a real drop-off at the QB spot (no offense to JJ or JL). Matt Mauck gets hurt in the victory against Florida. If that doesn't happen, who knows how that season turns out. Marcus Randall was never the caliber of QB we needed in '02 or '04, as much as I liked the guy.

If LSU has two straight losing seasons in the conference, then I might consider it.

If LSU has two straight losing seasons overall, then I'd demand it.

We would need to go 6-6 this year for there to be any serious talk of a coaching change.

7-5 comes back but is on the hot seat

i gotcha, but you can't deny that there has always been an undercurrent of borderline hatred for Les by at least a small, yet vocal, group of folks who labeled themselves as "fans".

the bad on the field always gives ammo to whatever point(s) they are trying to sell;while the good is justified by not including anything that the program does correctly.
