I would put Tommy Hodson (86-89) above those guys. Hodson owned all the passing records at LSU, and was a Heisman Trophy candidate in '88 and '89.
He was also the 3rd QB drafted overall but it was to one of the worst teams in the NFL at that time.

Parcells released him in '93 deciding to go with D. Bledsoe who had 15 passing TDs and 15 INTs that season. Of course that was better than the other two QB's he kept. One had a season record of 2 TDs and 9 INTS, and the other didn't complete a pass during the season.

Hodson and Steve Walsh were compared a lot back then. Unfortunately for Hodson he just didn't get the opportunity for a good fit for his abilities like Walsh did.

Yea Brister,Humphrey and another Ulm player Peterson all have superbowl rings as pro style qb.

the offensive schemes in Louisiana does not at all lend to development of a traditional pocket passing QB. As you say, the HS coaches best strategy to win is to place the best athlete at QB and 4-5 speedy receivers, and that is a horrible way to train a Qb.
