When they can, LSU should dump TAMU as the rivalry week opponent.

Instead, play them as the traditional SEC opener.

TAMU deep down wants to play Texas on T-day anyway.

For rivalry week, LSU could play in the Superdome every year and alternate among Tulane and other in-state schools as the opponent.

This would probably help LSU with New Orleans area recruiting, plus a cupcake game would allow them to rest up some players for the SEC championship game the following week.

So, am I a genius for suggesting this?

This is dumb on a lot of levels. I'm on an iPhone and don't feel like typing the reasons. I'm sure my fellow posters will pick up the slack

Playing Tulane in the superdome just isn't worth it. And we don't really need any help with recruiting New Orleans.

Ok I'll weigh in. How does playing a game in the Superdome "help New Orleans recruiting"? Please explain. And don't we do pretty well down there already?

You mean that game we play in once every four years?

And why play in the Dome when you can play at home in a stadium that had 30,000 more seats?

Every year in which the LSU starting quarterback is arrested.

1. We don't "need" help recruiting New Orleans. We crush it there every single year.

2. A&M is a bigger football rival than any in state school strictly due to the competition level. Add in the recruiting battles and the close proximity of many of our alumni and A&M is a no brainer for rivalry week.

Sure, schedule Tulane every year for rivalry week. Nothing exudes excellence like proclaiming your rival is a school who votes whether or not to keep football every election year. That should give us some real swag

You do know that there is already a traditional rivalry game played in the Superdome on Thanksgiving weekend, don't you?

I'd like for a heated rivalry to brew between us and a&m. The Chavis deal should help this year.

Well, since we'll never see another quality OOC opponent in Tiger Stadium you might as well play them all on neutral fields. Let those in Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc. pay for the crappy games.
