When players get suspended/benched and coaches refuse to give any info they add drama

The latest is Reese/Mulkey. By refusing to provide any information Mulkey is allowing the media and fans to run with whatever theory they like. If she provided just basic context like “She broke a team rule”, or “She’s getting her academics straight“, it would eliminate a lot of the drama and speculation in the situation.

Personally I think Mulkey is too smart to not know this and is sticking with the “none of your business” line to come off as being protective while simultaneously putting pressure on Angel to get her act together.

You’re the one adding drama.

You aren’t entitled to the information. Stop whining and let the damn thing play out.

Shows a lack of trust as well as insecurity.

Regardless of NIL, these are still student athletes. This isn’t the pros.

No one answers to you. If you dont like it, take a hike.

If you got in trouble at work, do you want your boss to go on tv about it?

Imagine being mad at coach because she said she wasn’t going to put what happens in the locker room out in public and have her player’s backs. What a fricking stupid take.

Yea…that’s what fans do. That’s his point

Again, not his point

Wtf? some of y’all are so weird. Big man over here is so secure and trusting of our head coaches that he doesn’t wonder about things that the entire fanbase has been discussing for the last 3 weeks. So stoic, so tough

No. The only people who need to be in the loop are the people involved.

What adds to the drama is stupid journalists and people on the internet spreading shite they know nothing about.

Yep, it’s what Coach chose and she knows how it goes.

Yea that’s my entire point. If you provide any context, even extremely vanilla, vague context, you keep a lot of the rumor spreading from happening.

By providing no information, you allow any rumor to spread and no one can prove it wrong.

You can wonder all you want. Whining about it is going to make a difference.

I’m pretty sure Angel isn’t liking how dynamics have shifted the roster changes. Her coach isn’t going to throw her under the bus to the fans because then all this “wonder” will turn into bashing on our players.

Perhaps she just knows LSU fans too well.

Yeah because saying "breaking a team rule" is really going to stop people from speculating

This isn't anyone's business. To be honest, injury reports shouldn't exist either. Only people outside of family that need to know the academics are the university and coaches. Only people that need to know health/injury status are the medical staff and coaches

Unfortunately, our society is so "need to know" that all aspects of privacy are ignored and when that privacy is respected by those that do know, outsiders resort to speculation and rumors

No you don’t.

If you give vague context (I.e. “Angel broke a team rule…”) but leave gaps in telling the full story, then people will just refine their rumors to fill in the gaps, but now the rumors are supported by you statements (even if out of context).

Better to let people flail on wild rumors that most people can see aren’t grounded in truth.

You either tell the story (when/if appropriate) or you keep it internal.

If true — and it isn’t — that’s still her right as coach.

The truth here is nuanced. Mulkey is handling it well.

Wasn’t Angel benched early last year as well?

There are privacy rules which restrict what coaches and university officials can say about a student athlete. Some people don't just jump to conclusions they love to make negative quantum leaps and the simple minded are eager to swallow it hook, line and sinker.

How would it help? It might satisfy 1% of YOUR curiosity about the situation, but my guess is you would be back here the next day starting another thread about which team rule was broken.

So, your opinion is Mulkey needs to be honest, so you people dont have to make up lies?

Thats not on Mulkey.
