When is the last time we had a top tier bullpen?

IMO not since 2009. We are very dependent on having a dominant starter like Nola or Lange go close to the distance or we are in trouble.

Newman is our only consistent reliever this year, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems we never have more than 1 and they are typically underutilized.

I have to admit our bullpen is not as good as I thought it would be...have seen signs of improvement, but their consistancy is just not there...not sure why it's that way, but it is, and it needs to get better soon...we are running out of day light on this season...

Really? Might want to check 2013 then...

Let me help you...

Reynolds got hurt this season and LaMarche was coming on strong at the end of the season.

Ok I agree with 2013... So we only have 3-4 year lapses between having a top tier bullpen. This is acceptable and understandable for a mid-major program, not a program with an Intimidator billboard.

The bullpen was pretty darn good last year. I would say this is the first time we haven't had a very good bullpen in quite a few years.

In 2015, Hunter Newman had a 0.49 ERA with a .203 OBA; Parker Bugg had a 1.72 ERA with a .180 OBA; Jess Stallings had a 2.73 ERA with a .209 OBA and 12 saves Doug Norman had a 2.04 ERA; and Russell Reynolds had a 2.95 ERA with a .197 OBA. I don't know what team yall watched last year. I thought the bullpen was very good. The strange thing is that all of those guys are still there and they are not good.

Newman and Norman were grossly underutilized last year

For Bullpen in college, those aren't good numbers. Newman was good. Bugg was extremely shaky, stalling was terrible argued the first month, Norman was inconsistent and hardly pitched towards the end of the reg season, and a guy with a 2.95 ERA out the bullpen is not good.

I think some LSU baseball fans think that if a pitcher gives up a run he is not good, if a hitter doesn't get a hit he is not good, if a fielder makes an error he is not good, and if any of those things happen then the coach isn't good. The game isn't that easy...

Come on man, dreadlocks of doom pitched more than 6 innings that year. Hell he probably pitched close to 6 in the CWS alone.

However, he is another example of a very effective reliever that PM significantly underutilized.
