I don't know what you guys are talking about with this blue talk... Can those who are complaining provide an example of an LSU garment they feel is too blue?

I think they did it for TV, the purple at least on football uni's used to look black on TV way back when.

I had the same question. It's the stadium lights during the night games. Check out the color during a day game and you'll see the difference.

I do buy into that "blue jersey" perception. I remember this past season looking at them play Southern Miss. The Tigers were wearing the purple jerseys w/ white pants and helmets, and on TV it looked like a deep blue, their unis had a strong resemblance to Kentucky in the early '70s.

Exactly. Looks like purple in the sun. Blurple under the lights.

It came after a long and harrowing process that started in a Chechnyan orphanage. After many favors being called in from the ambassador of the US embassy in Chechnya and many bribes paid...we finally brought the color home.

I'll downvote myself...

LSU's first "official colors" were actually blue and white and changed to purple and gold in 1893.

I have this coffee mug.
