Curious as to why people are downvoting you. Yes, LSU wore gold jerseys in the 1996 Finals, but it didn't immediately become a "tradition" after that. Made evident by the fact they did not wear gold in the 1997 or 2000 finals. It became a Sunday tradition in 2008, which carried over into the 2009 CWS.

The whites are great! The gold is great as well. The pinstripes are awful and were so popular at a certain time. Every team (including mlb) had a form of pinstripes. All I see is Chicago WS, Cubs, Yankees, and Mets. Nope to the pinstripes!

Pinstripes for me. Remember seeing Todd walker in the dome on those pinstripes. People talk about the Yankees…. They were my Yankees.

but man, i hate how the Pinstripes have been relegated to obscurity.
they’re by far our best looking uniform.

To answer your question, the 2008 23 game win streak is when it caught on. I think we wore gold the entire time and it stuck. It may have been called Championship Gold before then, but that’s when it became a thing.
