I was 8 at the time but beating Texas 7-6 in game 1 of the CWS. Remember vaguely other games that season but this memory is most clear.

Mine was Warren Morris' homer in the 96 CWS.

I lived in Washington Parish so we were getting basically 0 games on TV outside of the actual CWS that was on CBS back then I think. We could listen to the games on the radio but listening to 3-4 baseball games a week on the radio just isn't as fun as going out to the field and drinking beer with your friends when you are in high school.

In 96 I had just finished my sophomore year and was going back home from being in BR for a few days maybe to visit LSU as a potential student and GBFTL member (I may have auditioned on this trip I don't remember exactly). I had just crossed over the railroad tracks in Amite, LA when Morris launched the HR to win it. I think that hit me hard because those days it really hit me that in a little over a 2 years I'd be an LSU student so it was kind of like "my school" just won the baseball national title. After that I couldn't get enough LSU baseball. Me and my dad went to probably 4-5 games in 97 and listened to a lot of games on the radio. A few short years later I'd be attending 25-30+ home games a year in person.

In the mid to late 80’s we had season tickets. My dad said you could get a family pack that include 2 adult and 2 kids tickets. I want to say it was like 20 bucks for the whole season and he said he decided to quit getting them when they went up to 60 bucks for the season. I remember watching Joey Belle and Lyle Mouton hitting nukes

This. I was 10. Had been a diehard football and basketball fan since 80. I just started getting into MLB (Braves on TBS) and LSU being #1 helped with that addiction.

We also started getting family passes for the season in the 80s. They were $25.......for a season, not a game. We joined the Coaches Committee and sat in a special section right by the dugout. Great times!

Winning the 2009 CWS while I was in high school...

Unfortunately missed out on all the glory days of the 90s, but I still identify as an entitled fan that demands a better atmosphere at Alex Box and more trips to Omaha.

Going to the a game pre Skip in the early 80's to watch a friend of mine play. While I was watching the game, the girl with me ask me if I knew another player and if I knew if he was a jerk or not. Next thing I know I get a nudge in my arm and my friend's mother passed me a note saying "his father is right behind us"

1985 LSU vs Tulane at Turchin Stadium, I remember all the fans (LSU fans) telling me about the Freshman from Huntington HS in Shreveport. They also said by the 7th inning Skip would have enough of his temper and sit him down. We lost 8-7

Early to mid 90s.. Can't remember which came first

Jacques Jones hitting 3 HRs in the BR Regional after getting heckled all day by LF lunatics.

Or one regional final one year the ticket takers fricked up and let students in too early so they were forced to let kids sit in foul territory down LF/RF lines in order to make room for all ticketed fans.

My first LSU baseball memory is the very first Busch/Winn Dixie classic against the state of Florida. Guessing 87 was the year.

In ‘93 they played a midweek “road” game vs Centenary at Fair Grounds Field in Shreveport. Todd Walker homered twice and 8-year old me was hooked.

Jones played right field on the usc team that came in 1994. Geoff Jenkins was the left fielder and Aaron Boone was the third baseman. Also had a shortstop named Gabe Alvarez who was a first round pick.

Jones hit 3 homers in the championship game of that regional. LSU won 12-10

I think the other incident you referred to was maybe ‘91?

Anyway, truly great memories and an absolutely electric atmosphere in those days.

Cool thread

Some extra innings game between LSU and Tulane during the late 1980s. I searched and couldn't find boxscores to help me find which game. I vaguely recall Sam Amarena pitching for Tulane. I was about 16 at the time.

Morris ....... but I also remember the 2000 teams run and always expecting Brad Hawpe to hit a double off the wall. Felt like he hit 100 of those that year. I also remember Brad Cresse struggling to hit the Stanford pitchers splitter and striking out 3 times only to finally hit a single and drive in Theriot as the winning run.
