Obv not everyone is a hater, but seriously there seems to be a good percentage of posters who don't want him starting next year and I can make ZERO sense out of it.

I get it if you didn't like Lee, Jefferson, Jennings or Harris.
But what exactly has DE done or not done to make LSU fans want him on the bench ?
BH isn't taking over, a fresh with zero experience isn't taking over either... This isn't whoville, oz or PlayStation.

Fact is DE never regressed and never came close to losing his starting spot... And it's not like staff didn't have a guy on bench with game experience.
Dude is tough, smart and athletic.
I thought that's all LSU needed?

All I can say is you haters need to get over it.
Outside of an injury or a suspension (LOL) he'll start every game next season and do just fine.

I'd pay money to read this board if he outplays heisman trophy winner in a couple weeks.
Place would melt

All QBs deserve a clean slate with the Les Miles offense officially DED

nobody hates Danny

people just realize he is limited in what he can do and the prospect of others being more talented, under new tutelage is intriguing

but he seems like the perfect fit for Canada's dink and dunk offense, so

He may not be elite but to say he is no good is just dumb. I think he's a good, middle of the road qb.

He's at best a pedestrian QB against defenses with a pulse.

He reminds me of Matt Mauck 2001. Hopefully he can take a big step and become a complete passer. He is tough as nails and smart. You have to be able to complete 20+ yard passes though, and he looked more like Andrew Hatch in that area.

When it boils down to it, does anyone see us winning a championship and beating Alabama with Etling?

I dont.

I believe he starts and plays well in 2017 - however, I think another QB will pass him by mid-season.

He does have a limited ceiling. However, he's scrappy and smart with the ball. He had a couple of fumbles, but those were pass protection as much as his own ball security. Only a couple of really bad INTs. Just not a game changer.

We beat a bc winning Alabama team with JJ.
Let that sink in.

He's basically Matt Mauck 2.0, but unless Etling leads LSU to a NC, he won't get respect. Can you imagine if this board existed back in Mauck's days? Or Marcus Randall? People here would have crucified both of those guys.

Can't throw the deep ball consistently and can't power the ball into tight windows.

Despite that he is still probably our best option.

He has a noodle arm, has zero accuracy on his deep ball, and holds on to the ball too long.

He moves in the pocket well and goes through reads well.

His ceiling is very low.

IMO, no one hates him. Hes just not the guy to take us to the next level on offense.
