Whatever happened to Justin Thomas and Deondre Clark?

For a team that needs DL depth, I don't recall ever seeing these guys on the field. Clark has played sparingly throughout his career and Thomas was a pleasant surprise in the Spring game.

Clark was a miss. That was obvious before this year started.

Thomas is a young guy who shows promise. But there's no way he sees significant action in a competitive game in which we have Lacouture, Herron, Lawrence, Alexander and Gilmore healthy and available to play the three fatass positions.

Next year three of those guys move on. Taking their place will be Thomas, Fehoko, Logan, and Ferrell. That will be his chance.

And hopefully Shelvin, but we have no clue of knowing how good he has been in practice.

I wish this wasn't true, but it is. Highly touted OOS recruit that almost flipped to OU at the end. Stuck it out with LSU and his abilities never came to fruition.

Didn't he screw up his knee pretty bad his senior year? Maybe he just never recovered.

I could be wrong, and I'm not going to go back and research it, but I think he played as much as reasonable for a first and second year DE. I'm pretty sure I remember him in games from two and three years ago.

What might have happened was Aranda coming in and moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Clarke's not very big for a 3-4 DE. He might be too small for DE and too slow for LB. That wouldn't be a miss; just a misfit as the team evolved.

Thomas isn't very big for DE, either.

I had high hopes for Justin Thomas. I thought we might see him infrequently this year.

You may be right, sometimes I think Aranda would be happy with 3 noseguards on the DL.

J Thomas is going to be good. It is damn hard to come into the SEC on the DL. It is just as hard to come into the SEC on the OL -- and we are playing 4 teenager freshmen (counting Magee as a RSF).
