I think they wanted Jimbo enough for a buyout. When he was not available, they were not willing to spend that kind of cash on an up and coming.

Unless something happen to suddenly change the decline we've seen for the past three years, the cry for a coaching change will be louder at the end of next season though.

The full buyout is never going to need to be paid. Les would get another job and makes at least a few million a year which offsets the amount owed. TAF is funding whatever remains so why does the number even matter? As long as someone is willing to throw cash at it, then it doesn't even enter the equation for LSU decision making.
