I think Dunn wanted Mainieri to go to Bush but Mainieri had him visit the mound. Mainieri basically said he screwed up leaving Reynolds in during the interview. If he goes to Bush earlier, we win that game 3-1.

At the time I thought Dunn got caught not paying attention or something. Looked like PM was asking him why the hell he wasn't walking to the mound.

Not only that, Bush was just getting on the rubber in the bullpen...taking his sweet time. Wouldn't shock me.

Yep. It appears that's what was going on. Bad decision by CPM, but he hasn't made very many this series and he owned it. There were "errors" all around: batting, fielding, base running, pitching with our depleted pen against their ace and we still almost won. It's tough having our backs against the wall now, but we have the advantage next two days. Barring a pitching meltdown or lots of bad luck, we should win this.

The plan was to try and get 3 innings out of Reynolds, but as Todd Walker said in the pregame, "he should be on choker rather than just a short leash. After Reynolds got through his call of duty of the first rotation I was hoping that CPM would leave him in, but have Bush warmed up and on the bump after the very first mistake beyond that. While I do think we missed a golden opportunity to steal one in a mismatch...I still feel confident that we win this thing if Poche and Hess get the W tonight. I can all but guarantee Faedo pitches on Wednesday for no less than 5 innings or 75-90 pitches, but I think having Lange at nearly 100% and the Tiger faithful tips the scales in our favor.

Hang on Baws. It's going to be a fun ride.

Once Reynolds hit 50 pitches he should have been yanked as soon as he walked a batter

He hasn't pitched extended at all this year.

Typical PM, terrible decision cost the team that game.

One bad inning was enough to lose it.

Florida has better pitching and likely will be the difference especially if they get it to Faedo to close it out Wed.

Fla had better pitching in Gainesville and has it in Omaha! Congrats.

For me it was less about pitch count and more about times thru the order.

He got hit hard by the leadoff guy but they salvaged it for out 1 in the 4th. I get Mainieri trying to get everything he can out of him, but I would have gone to Bush after the first walk. I don't think it would have been a quick hook to do that because I considered anything beyond 1 time thru the order to be bonus.

Dunn said he thinks Orsi's is the best Italian restaurant in Omaha and Mainieri told him he's wrong, that Lo Sole Mio Ristorante is. Things got hot when they started comparing lasagna dishes.....

Faedo may be able to contribute, but he wont be the horse Wednesday.

Our pitching lines up or the advantage from here on out. Not sure what you're talking about.

"Not only that, Bush was just getting on the rubber in the bullpen..."

Is this true? He should have been warmed up when the inning started, not when the walks started...

I wondered about that last night.
Oh well...
