Why support a team that doesn't give 100% effort. On defense they are walking around. I still watch every game on TV but why would I pay to see that shite show. It would only frustrate me more.

A comparable matchup was the midweek game against Missouri, and that one had a lot more energy than last night.

my son and i went, had not been to a basketball game in forever.

he enjoyed his bag of skittles.

i enjoyed leaving before halftime. got the dishes done back at home before the 2nd half even started i'm sure.

edit: lethargic small crowd

I have been to every home game. That being said, the team is responsible for the crowd that was there last night. The average LSU basketball crowd is full of "bandwagon" fans, and you cannot expect those fans to continue showing up to watch a team that gives 70% effort every road game. I'm not saying that's right of the "fans" but it's just the truth.

basketball is a 3rd priority sport at lsu.

if the team is entertaining and they win, more ppl watch it. if that makes them "bandwagon" fans, it's better than them not being fans at all. those revenue injections help the program.

when it's left to the hardcore fans to fill the pmac, the place is empty. sorry that more ppl don't care about basketball enough to consistently pay attention to it. i certainly don't, but i don't think that makes me sub-human. only so much white beans to go around.

Agree, I feel the team earned the crowd that was there.

We've been to every home game except for a few when we were away on business. We go regardless of the team's performance. We also go to several away games each season. We're part of those crazy, loyal, true fans, but I can easily understand how the casual fan couldn't be bothered to go. Especially for a mid-week game.

I think there was less than 4,000 there Wednesday, with about 35 students, which was the saddest part.

As to noise from the crowd, LSU fans are some of the quietest I've ever known, in general. I've been here for 6 years and the PMac has only been rocking a handful of times. I don't know why that is, because I've been to a bunch of away games where the home team is crappy, or it's another "football school". Every time I notice how loud their fans are, even if the crowd is small.

The MS State game had some moments when the crowd stood up and cheered, and did a sustained cheer after a particularly big effort on offense by the team. Wish the crowd would do the same thing on a defensive stop. It might encourage the players, positive reinforcement

yep, especially with the weak defensive performance that we've been seeing the last few weeks. I haven't been to a game in the PMAC, since I can't even remember - not sure I've been to one since I graduated and moved away, but from what I can tell on tv even the supposedly "raucous" crowds we've had over the last few years have not sounded loud at all on tv. Not sure why that is, maybe because a full PMAC, like what they used to have back in my day, is the only way to truly make some obtrusive noise. I dunno.
