In the passing game. Everyone was so excited seeing the offense finally use them which helped our QB's confidence in the spring game yesterday.

The last 4 to 5 years not using TE's is inexcusable considering how bad our passing game has been.

Go back and listen to Richard Dickson't interview during last season. He gave some good perspective on the lack of confidence that the coaching staff had in throwing to the middle of the field. I hope it happens more this year.

I get what u saying but nothing else was working. They could have at least tried against the lower level teams on our schedule.

We must use all parts and levels of field, if we don't we will struggle again. No matter who the targets are

THIS. You had a QB last ye that lacked touch. Whether it was a swing pass to the flat or dropping a ball behind LB'ers and in front of the safeties, he was inept. 5-10 yd outs and heaving a desperation bomb were his strong suits. NO OC or HC will dial up running seam passes from a QB that has an issue floating mid range throws. Aside from CB's jumping an out route, I can't think of a better recipe for a pick six than a safety catching an overthrow as he closes on a TE.

How could any knowledgeable fan be surprised by the use of the TEs in the Spring Game?

Dickson had catches in the Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M game, but the doors busted open in the Music City Bowl. DeSean Smith had FOUR receptions in the Music City Bowl. That's more catches than everyone else on the team combined.

The coaching staff just wanted to be sure that that was what the fans really wanted to see.

Some of that is confidence in the TE actual catching the ball. Outside of Gordon, we've pretty much had stone hand TEs the past few years. Smith looks like he will be the best TE we've seen since Richard.

I think Les has been gun shy about the middle of the field since 08 and the Pick 6s by Lee. Last year Jennings didn't get through the progression far enough to get to the TE. He's definitely gotten much better and more comfortable in the offense. I expect the TE to be much more involved the more the QBs grasp the offense.

Denutted him so to speak, plays to not lose now rather than to win.

The tes have been used, the qbs just got to make the throws. Even Mett was forcing the ball to Beckham when he had other options. I understand what you guys are saying, but cam and miles aren't the ones throwing the passes, but they are sending tes on routes, they aren't always just blocking.

let's wait to see if we actually use our tight ends during a real game before we have this conversation...

I call BS.

Cam Cameron made Dennis Pitta a star with the Ravens. I was all excited we would finally utilize the TE position in the Les Miles era, even if it was solely to keep defenses honest from double teaming wideouts with a safety.

But even with a more than competent passer in Mettenberger, they still forced targets to OBJ and Landry despite triple coverage at times, and threw to the TE's about as often as this past year, which is hardly at all.

We've had talent at the TE position throughout the Les Miles era, and for some mind-boggling reason, they have been practically non-existent, even when we've had a competent QB.

I understand the constant negativity, but the last two times we have seen the LSU football team take the field, they have made a point to get the ball to the TEs.
