THIS.

I realize it won't happen every year, but to expect this 3 out every 5 seasons is not unreasonable.

It has happened with Miles once since 2007.

it is evident CLM's definition includes at least two losses to get there

Never being eliminated from contention in the west before the last regular season game, staying in or near the top 10.

$ for the coaching staff, top notch facilities, and being a farm system for the NFL all say we should expect this as a fan base.

Also we should beat bama occasionally.

In order and based on how deep into the season you are...these would qualify as competing for a championship.

1. Play well enough in the early playoff discussion
2. Win division
3. Play for/Win conference championship
4. Make CFB playoff.

I'll tack a second question on to this one...
Once you've answered the original question, now ask yourself, "How many coaches in SEC history have met the criteria you have set?

Having championship caliber performances every week. The ball isn't always going to bounce your way, and you'll lose a few. But it should be clear there is a gameplan, your players understand and can execute the gameplan, and the coaches can adjust the gameplan in-game when things aren't working.

It's not that we lose, IT'S HOW WE LOSE.
