Whether Lee actually bootlegs it or not (not a strength but he's also not retarded) the hand off at least freezes LBers and safeties for about an extra count.
As soon as that pitch is made the entire defense attacks the line of scrimmage.
If they ever pull off a flea ficker with it I'll reconsider it's usefulness.

Jarret Lee on a bootleg didn't look good at all last night
I didn't see us boot off that action...All I saw him do was sprint out...He is definitely NOT a sprint out passer...Jefferson IS a sprint out passer.

the toss play will set up for some good playaction if we keep running it! I would have to say we left alot on the table as far as our playbook is concerned!!!

The only problem i have is this. when we line up in that double tightend set everyone in the building knows we are running the ball. that maigh come back to bite us if we don't run something different out of that set. the other thing is this, is lee allowed to check to another play when the dfense has an 8 man line and walks the safties up. we ran right up the pipe with a 6 and 9 man line . i think he should be albe to check to a slant pass or something besides running into a brick wall.

It's not the short side option.

quote:Pretty sure he will be allowed to at some point, but remember Les' postgame quotes- run the play that is called. This game was won by the coaches; they decided that our best chance was to go right at Oregon, no matter what they showed. And not too coincidentally that took all the heat off Lee, who was starting on short notice in maybe the biggest game of his life.

-don't think, just do
It worked. As much as we want to forget the past, I don't believe we want Lee getting too antsy back there when the game is still tight, not just yet. One bad quick slant for a pick six in the 3rd quarter and Lee might be braintoast for the year.

Stops the DE from crashing because he has to still play contain on the sweep.
