Just curious. Are there any advantages to the pitch rather than handing the ball off?

A couple more steps to find a hole with the ball in his hands.

Gets the ball in the Rb's hands faster. It worked so why you asking?

It's quicker to develop.

Not sure what other benefits, but I do know we ran that play 20 times.

GettIng the ball to the running back quicker where he has time to make a move before the line of scrimmage

I hate this play with a passion. It seems to gain 3 yards tops most of the time. I much rather just do a dive

like jj said gets the ball in the hands of the rb faster so they Can look for the hole sooner. Funny my buddy hates this play and was bitching about it after the game, finally had to say stfu, we averaged over 4/carry on the play.

To beat down their interior line and LB's. To set up the play action.

It ate them up too. I had no problems with the offensive gameplan last night. It kept Oregon's offense off the field. But to be fair, Oregon attempted 52 passes.

btw, everyone says my avatar creeps them out. Yours is 5x as creepy as mine. I have nightmares when I see that shite.

Because what other play could we possibly run out of the hurry-up-no-huddle?

I don't think it necessarily goes up the middle. Like others said the RB gets the ball quick and can read the blocking to see where the hole is. And Prom is right, we averaged 4 yards a carry even when they knew it was coming. I'm down with it!

its a great play, but last night the were crashing the DL inside and ware never cut it off the end because they had up to 9 in the box a lot of the time. Later in the year when we aren't up so much and have proven we can throw the play will bust big a couple of times.

I love power football, but I love power football with the ability to deceive even better.

Pitching the ball like that takes away any play action or bootleg potential.

I prefer the handoff.

Jarret Lee on a bootleg didn't look good at all last night. You can still do a fake pitch for playaction.

His natural motion is to fall away when throwing the ball, even in the absence of pressure. Look at the play-action pass to Peterson.

Really tough to do that on a bootleg. He looks extremely awkward making throws on the run.
