A WIN? IS A WIN TOO MUCH TO ASK?

The only thing that would make Les' seat a little cooler would be a completely dominating win. I'm talking like 67-0 shutout where LF7 and Harris have 150+ yards rushing and 200+ yards passing and are out of the game after the first half.

I don't really wanna see LF7 play. That play where he got up limping made me hold my breath.

Some more game reps for Guice could be beneficial down the stretch as well

I'd like to see Guice and Williams carry the load at RB and see them work on the passing game.

Of course I'll probably miss the game but that's what I'd like to see.

I agree with all of this (except maybe running the wildcat, I'm not a huge fan of it). I loved what LSU did in the bowl game and thought we would build on some of the plays we ran. Our offense looked like it was heading in the right direction. Then Saturday came, and it looked nothing like what we saw the last game of last season. I just don't get it.

The improvements I would like to see begin with "I was wrong, I wasn't completely honest with myself nor any of you, and for that I am deeply sorry, moving forward, Coach Craig will be our OC and I will remove my headset while we are on offense"

I'd like to see better execution, especially on screen plays.

The OL needs to improve its pass protection.

Defense needs to play better assignment football; show that they are learning the new system.

Passing game - I'd like to see Harris throw more underneath, slants, and in the flats. I know we can go deep on J-state; we need to see BH execute the kind of plays that will result in success against tougher defenses.

Me personally:

Harris given plays to utilize his strengths. Don't make him turn his back to the field. In the gun, #7 and #5 back there with him, if you're going to run 2 WR's, release the tight end sometimes and leave a back in to block. Give him simple quick reads, and an opportunity to use his legs. Most of this should get him in a rhythm and open the run game.

Defense, stand their ground a little more in the front.

Last week was rough, but supposedly teams improve most from their 1st to 2nd game. What are a few things you hope to see improved upon this week?

This week is meaningless. There is literally NOTHING that could happen this week outside of a major injury or, God forbid, a loss that will tell us anything going forward.

We could win 70-0 with Les and Cam running a spread offense and BH going 25-25, 400 yards, 4TDs and no picks. And that would mean exactly jack shite. Until we see a game where Miles doesn't tuck his nuts and telegraph every single play against a really good power 5 team, everything else doesn't mean a thing.

I am not sure we can "fix" a lack of talent

There is no lack of talent. There is a lack of the head coach's ability to develop that talent.

I'd like to see the qb audible into a passing play when there are 8-9 defenders in the box; We have tall enough/ fast enough WRs to gamble on some shots downfield against man coverage.

Spread the defense out with 4 wr sets (or 2 wr and 2 te) and run zone reads; I bet qb could get big yardage considering everyone will key #7. use the same formation to develop the short passing game through play action. Same formation can be used to call other running plays as well, it loosens up the box and gives #7 some space to work.

Use motion to help identify pass coverage pre-snap. We are going to get man coverage nearly 99% of the time until the qb proves he can beat it with his arms and legs, but the qb cant afford to be tricked into throwing blindly into zone.

Exploit poor DBs and force them to back up and/ or force the D to provide help over the top (see FSU v Miss). The moment that happens it becomes harder to put 8-9 in the box. and when they do start doubling, run another receiver into the space the defenders previously occupied. Swing passes and wheel routes would be deadly.

Step up in the pocket and deliver the ball instead of instantly scrambling outside into the path of defenders. if no one is open, RUN North and South. even a two yard gain on a scramble is better than an incomplete and WAY better than a sack or an interception.

Do some designed roll outs with a run/pass option, put the qb on the edge of the defense and make those DB's who are probably in man coverage, make a decision to cover or play run support. This also changes the DE focus to contain which opens up some off tackle shovel passes or sprint draws.

put #7 on wheel routes out of the backfield against a slower LB.

Put #7 in the slot or at WR and run screens and quick passes against smaller DBs.

Use More perimeter plays (bubble screens, quick passes) to force the D expend more energy by running laterally and defend the whole field instead of camping out in the box and defending a smaller area.

More middle screens and draws to offset the pass rush.

And when defenses are finally forced to loosen up and play balanced, run wildcat with #7 and #5. Let #7 throw it a few times to keep them honest. throw some jet sweeps in there.

Win time of Possession. Not even the greatest defense can remain effective if they are on the field for most of the game. Keep our D fresh, wear the opponents D out by making them cover the whole field and play as many snaps as possible.

Lol, I'm guess I'm asking them to do what any other offense would do to keep a defense guessing. #wishfulthinking
