NFL does not have to play in the WhateverName Bowl for a semi final and then a final. Eliminate the bowls and play at the higher seed home.

if you are the number 7 or 8 team at the end of the year, you really dont have room to claim you deserve a shot at the national championship.

I said nothing of the sort. I believe the bcs rankings should have been kept and used to determine playoff seeds.

You see? People don't want to know who was the best team for the season, they just want their team to have a chance to win a post-season tournament and claim it all.

Then they should want 64. Then we covered. Except for team 65 of course

bcs rankings

What does any of the above have to do with the NFL?

The NFL only allows conference champions into the championship game. Even all those years when the NFC won 12 straight, they never put two teams from the NFC in the SB - even though the second best NFC team was clearly better than the AFC champion. THAT'S how the NFL does it, conference champions in the championship game.

5 teams, only conference champs. committee or poll can rank them 1-5, with 4 & 5 having a play-in game. if any conference champ has more losses than the sum total of the other 4's losses, then the committee or a poll can opt for a non-power 5 conf champ to take that teams place.

Also think you have to make conference championship games mandatory. Thats essentially an extra week of playoffs. Anyone who either (a) can't win their championship or (b) isn't one of the top 3 teams to not win a championship really has nothing to complain about.

you said 6 teams with 1 and 2 getting a bye was stupid. Thats exactly what the nfl does to decide who plays in the super bowl. The NFL has 2 conferences, the ncaa has 5 that matter(if you count the big 10) which makes it obvious it wont be exactly the same as the NFL. Please quit being dense.

Here's the problem.

We've been using opinion polls in college football for so long, we can't seem to imagine champions being crowned without them.

I say get the opinion polls out of the equation. Use an objective system like the NFL. No more crying.

In 1990, the 49ers didn't play the Giants in the SB even though they were clearly better than the Bills. The Bills had the benefit of being the champions of an inferior conference.

What if you had the capacity and experience to understand logistics? And to understand numerical analysis? and to understand the mindset of the university presidents? and to understand how practical or impractical it would be to the fan bases for the potential teams that would need to plan such attendance? or for how this would affect the other bowls? and several other pertinent elements...

Because any clown can ignore all of that and create a freakin shallow-thinking bracket with some logos on it. That's how we got the simple concept for Obamacare which looked good on the surface, but which ignored all of the principles of good planning and anticipation of implementation.

Yes.

No, it's not. It's conference champions that get to play in the SB.
quote:

No, it doesn't, it has 10 conferences in FBS. If some of those conferences 'don't matter', then they should be removed from FBS.
quote:

it wont be exactly the same as the NFL

No, because as it is now, there are 128 teams in FBS while there are only 32 in the NFL.
quote:

I'm not, I'm being rational.

See my previous point from above:
quote:

It happens. Win your conference and you advance. Keep it simple and as objective as possible or there will be no end to bitching.
