The actual "#5for5" group was the 5 players we thought would commit to LSU at the Under Armor game:
Fournette
Adams
Willis
Speedy
Brown

Hootie, Cam Rob, and Dupre did not commit at the UA game.

This. Exactly. Please let this DEFINITIVE post be the end of this thread or I will lose my mind (not that anyone cares).

Here is a link to the article written about 5/5 (2/5) LINK

Cam Robinson committed in September and was an early enrollee.

Hootie Jones committed in the beginning of December, decommitted a couple of weeks later and then re-committed AFTER the UA game LINK

Malachi Dupre committed on NSD.

If you remember 5/5 some different way, you are wrong. Please do not post the fantasy version that you've stored in your brain for the rest of us to read.

C Robinson was def not one of the 5. The 5/5 was in reference to the 5 at the ua all star game. We were in on or leading on 5 top recruits announcing that day. C Robinson announced at his school with several other that were already committed to lsu in the audience. I remember think it was odd that players from other schools were allowed to miss school to attend is announcement. But thought that had to be good news for us.

Disregard. Everything is explained perfectly in the post above.

On that day Jamal and Leonard committed to LSU. You could make an argument that they're the best to ever play their position for LSU

Tony Brown burned us for Bama. He was considered a huge LSU lean because his sister ran track here. Hunter Renfrow burned his arse for a national title. Very overrated, speed for days but terrible instincts.

Speedy Noil went to A&M, his career went "up in smoke". His big thing was he didn't want to go to "Leonard Fournette University" instead he went to "Were owned by Leonard Fournette University"

Gerald Willis went to UF. After fighting teammate skyler mornhinweg and punching James Winston (as Winston ran out of bounds, Willis wasn't even playing) he finished his career at UF with more QB hits off the field than on. He's now at Miami. We thought this one hurt the most because we were depleted on the Dline. Remember Godchaux and Lac were starting as freshman that next year? Doesn't matter, kids a head case and would have been dismissed very quickly.

Worth mentioning that his fight at UF came about because he was stealing from teammates' lockers. Pretty happy with how 2 for 5 turned out and it's a good reminder about why I'm not going to get worked up about recruiting anymore.

5/5 was started by Jimmy smith before the UA game. Became a rallying cry on the recruiting board and then an embarrassment on the national stage that turned out awesome for us

Speedy
Willis
Adams
Fournette
Tony brown

Heck, I can't remember shite from THIS year much less 3 years ago.

Didn't realize my question would spark such disagreements. But it looks like T-boy has it right - backed up with links anyway.

And yeah. I think we came out on the good end of that day when everything has been said and done.

When he's done at Bama will be interesting to hear some of the stories that come out and what transpired.

LSU bent over backwards to get his sister qualified to run track. Then Bama steps in a day before the announcement and the families medical bills are completely gone.

Did Tony's sister graduate from LSU after the stuff she pulled up on stage?

My bad didn't know you were talking about the UA game with announcements...thought it was about these 5 guys from Louisiana that were rated 5 stars by one publication or another

People are idiots. It was 5 5* from Louisiana. Adams replaced jones when jones committed to bama. He decomitted but it was to late. Dupree and fournette were the only 2 of the 5 we signed, that's why people say 2/5. We got 2 of the 5 players from louisiana.

Hootie was not one of the five. He had committed to Alabama and then decomitted. Many speculated that he or others were playing games to keep LSU from getting Jamal Adams. Didn't work obviously.

And:

quote:
Fournette saved a rough day for LSU head coach Les Miles. The high school all-star game was tabbed as "5 for 5" by LSU fans, as five 5-star recruits made their college commitment with the Tigers as finalists. Wide receiver Speedy Noil, defensive lineman Gerald Willis and cornerback Tony Brown spurned LSU for Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M, respectively. Fournette was joined by safety Jamal Adams in choosing LSU. Adams strengthens a defensive back class that was already one of the best the Tigers have ever had.

The "5" were Adams, Fournette, Willis, Brown and Noil:

quote:
“Les Miles was so shocked and surprised I was coming,” Jamal Adams said. Adams made his commitment public on Thursday during the second quarter of the Under Armour All-American Game at Tropicana Field, a 40,000-seat enclosed stadium near St. Petersburg’s downtown. Adams, a five-star safety from Carrollton High in Texas, was one of seven players who committed on national television on a brightly lit stage just off the field. Five had LSU has a finalists. The Tigers got two: Adams and St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette, the nation’s top-ranked player. LSU lost highly rated in-state talents in defensive tackle Gerald Willis and receiver Devante “Speedy” Noil, both of Edna Karr, and Texas cornerback Tony Brown. Willis chose Florida and Noil picked Texas A&M. Brown says he’s heading to Bama.
