it comes down to depth in the front 7. it's definitely our team's largest weakness.

Teams abandon the run and start throwing once they get down. Lack of pass rush and an inexperienced secondary is being exposed in the latter parts of the game. LSU needs to go man to man and start blitzing in the 2nd half to keep the offense from getting into any rhythm.

I think that's too simple.
It seems to me that offenses are adjusting to our scheme and we aren't doing anything about it.

It really isn't, though.

Look at the State and Syracuse game. Our D-line is just standing up when the ball is snapped. Key looks completely exhausted.

Yea, I think it's as simple as that our Dline is so thin that a true freshman who in prior years would be a third down pass rush specialist played almost every snap against Syracuse.

The penalties on the offense hurt a ton yesterday. The offense needs to dominate the TOP and keep the defense off the field. That's the recipe for success under Miles and it's how they'll accomplish all of their goals. There's nothing wrong with the personnel, schemes, play calling, etc. They just need to clean up the small things.

Fatigue, lack of depth at D line and conservatism on offense.

Thin front 7, inexperienced secondary, penalties, opponents adjustments--all of that stuff. Which begs the question: why does all this happen in the second half? Lack of depth/running low on gas may explain that.

#1 Steele doesn't blitz up the middle, he only uses poorly timed safety and corner blitzes.
#2 Steele rarely uses press coverage on his Cb's on 3rd and long so teams get easy 3rd downs
#3 ergo no quick 3 and outs so our defense is exhausted!!

-Florida will put up 21 in the 2nd half we better have a big lead 1st Half.

I think this issue is being way overblown right now.

Look at each game.

1: State has the best QB we've seen so far. And I still blame Les and the overly conservative offense for that game being close. State did not get any big plays and I don't recall any total busts by the D. They just dinked and dunked their way down field. And it was the first game on the road vs a ranked team.

2: against AU the D played great. They got one score on a busted play where the safety took a bad angle. Take that play away, AU had less than 200 yards of offense. Their second TD was BS as their entire Oline was 7 yards downfield on the pass. Should have been a penalty that the refs missed. Their final TD was a pass to their best receiver being covered in garbage time by a true freshman. I'm not getting upset about that, the game was over long before that play.

3: against Syracuse they score 10 points or less if we don't make stupid penalties.

I think the D is fine. And will get much better when Mills comes back.

I think the Syracuse game was an anomaly. This week presents a perfect opportunity to clean up everything and get the young guys experience vs a D1 team.

Probably has a lot to do with the fact LSU had a 21-6 lead, 38-7 lead, and then a 24-10 lead. Team loses focus with a big lead. Fatigue may play a part, but I think it's more of a focus issue once the team builds a large lead.

i always think this is one of the more absurd message board complaints about coaching.
